Best teacher Ive ever had!

Eunice was the greatest professor I have ever had. She really opened my eyes to a lot of things going on around me. I can't watch the news anymore without being critically analyzing it. Her work load is light, her lectures are intensly interesting, the homework assignments are somewhat enjoyable, and very easy... 2 to 4 page essays.. that was it. She's funny, and got a great personality.

Her class should be a requirement to live life properly... I recommend E. Aaron to everyone who seeks a very interesting, interactive class.

Not really sure what to say

i remember she kinda had favoritism over the seniors... she would discuss things in class that's not related with the book but she would test you about the book... i think her being absent from time to time was cool!!! :oD

She taught me to think

I get the feeling either you really like Eunice or you don't. I also get the feeling that everyone has been talking crap about her because either they don't like to think outside the box (the very thing she tries to do in class), or they're just to lazy to think at all. So what if she doesn't follow the syllabus? THE CLASS IS CALLED CRITICAL THINKING PEOPLE!!! Get a clue... Anyway, Eunice is one of the best teachers I've ever had, and she completely changed the way I look at life. Her class should be a requirement for graduating.

One of the best classes I have ever taken

It's true that Dr. Aaron's class isn't for everyone. For those of you who don't like to think critically, be honest about our world and the way it works and who don't like to be challenged, then maybe Aaron is not the class you should take. I was so grateful for her class though. She is well informed, if very opinionated, and articulate. She's a hard person to argue with, but she accepts a well-thought out opinion as well. I wish that her class, complete with her posturing (which is all for effect, by the way) and (most importantly) the videos she showed, could be broadcast for the enitre school. We need more teachers who challenge their students as Aaron does. Yeah, she's a hard ass, but SHE'S GOOD. Quit complaining about a teacher that makes you think, and take her class sometime!

Eunice Aaron deserves more credit than she's given...

Wow, I was really shocked to hear so many people disliked this teacher. It's been over a year since I took this class but I had to write a review for her since everyone else seems to hate her. I thought she was an excellent teacher. Yes she's absent a lot, but she makes up for that in the time she is there. And I don't believe she favors people, she just likes to engage people in discussion. If more people were involved in her class, people probably wouldn't get that feeling. Although the assignments did seem vague, if you have any questions, she's happy to answer them. If you approach her, and you want to gain something from this class, she can do that for you! Please give her a chance and take her for ETHS 110. She has been one of my favorite professors so far...so take into account the few of us that have plenty of good things to say about her.

Great teacher, Great Material

Seems like I am the only one who likes Prof. Aaron. She is very intelligent, is great to listen to, and takes the time to meet with everyone in the class. But if you are like half the people at SFSU who don't value intelligence or like using your brains, then you might not like this class. Anyway, this was one of the best classes I have taken. True, she isn't real clear about the assignments, but it is a great class otherwise.

WARNING: FLAKE AS PROFESSOR

FIRST OF ALL...I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IF YOU WANT RELIABILITY IN A TEACHER...THIS IS NOT THE TEACHER FOR YOU!! AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER I THOUGHT THAT THIS INSTRUCTOR WOULD BE COOL, SINCE SHE TALKED TO US LIKE WE WERE ON HER SAME LEVEL...BUT AS THE SEMESTER HAD DEVELOPED, I NOTICED THAT SHE WAS NOT AT ALL WHAT I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE LIKE. THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT IS WRONG WITH HER IS THAT SHE IS NEVER ON TIME TO CLASS AND SHE DOES NOT EVEN DISCUSS THE TEXT BOOK THOROUGHLY. I CAN'T RECALL A TIME WHEN SHE EVER CAME TO CLASS PREPARED AND ON TIME. DON'T GET ME WRONG, SHE DOES HAVE GOOD SPEAKING SKILLS, AND IT SEEMED TO ME THAT SHE WAS USING THOSE SKILLS TO COVER UP THE FACT THAT SHE HAD NOT PREPARED A LESSON FOR THAT DAY. ANOTHER THING IS THAT SHE WOULD GIVE THE CLASS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT AND NOT EVEN DISCUSS OR COLLECT IT THE NEXT TIME THAT THE CLASS HAD MET. SHE IS A VERY ENERGETIC WOMAN, BUT IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING, THEN I SUGGEST YOU DONT TAKE THIS CLASS, BUT IF YOU WANT A CLASS THAT HARDLY MEETS AND NEVER HAS HOMEWORK AND HAS A HUGE FINAL AT THE END..THEN TAKE THIS CLASS....GOOD LUCK AT TRYING TO PASS!

Eunice is a fabulous lecturer and the reading material is excellent and absorbing, though "Before the Mayflower" suffers from a lack of citation of sources. Eunice gives several small tests in essay form, plus one small and one large paper (10 pages). The final is 3 hours of writing short essays. Good writing skills are essential for the class. The only reason I didn't give her a A+ was that she is inconsistent from week to week about showing up, plus she doesn't follow her syllabus. To do well in the class requires self-motivation.

Prof. Eunice Aarons is not a good teacher at all. At first, I was really excited to take her class, because she was very enthusiastic and very dramatic when it comes to her lectures. I thought, "For a change, I have a teacher who is not going to make me fall asleep!" Later on in the semester, she started talking about issues that most of us knew nothing about. From talking to some of my classmates, they seem to agree with me when I said that most of the things Prof. Aarons talks about is confusing and "off the wall." She needs to do a better job explaining to us the many different issues she brings up in the classroom. A lot of people warned me about her bias attitude and favoritism, but I took the risk and stayed in her class anyway, thinking that she's not as bad as they had described her. Boy, was I wrong! What bothers me the most about Prof. Aarons is that she often doesn't give the rest of her students a fair chance. She looks at her favorite students in a different light than the rest of the people in the class. Now, I regret not getting out of her class when I had the chance. I certainly would NOT recommend Prof. Eunice Aarons to anybody. She is horrible!!!

This class was amazing. There were times when I thought what was happening for the other students would pass me by. Eunice was working her magic at the lectern and I saw the chages on all the students' faces but I wasn't getting it. Then, in the 5th week, during her lecture on Natural Law, it started to come together for me. I slapped my forehead to signify my realization and I felt them. Two bony knobs protruding from my head. Over the next few weeks, as she stood before the class and incanted the magic words, "Occam, context, ad hominem, hegemony," the changes continued. I soon caught up with the rest of the class and by the time she gave the final test, I was confident. My rack of antlers spread magnificently. I had lost my adolescent velvet and my points were keen. Going head to head with other students during the debating, I could feel my newfound strength. When Eunice smiled when I sent my opponent reeling, it was the greatest thing ever! She is an wonderful teacher and what she has given me will stay with me forever.

I had the wonderful opportunity to experience Eunice's class my freshman year (Crit. Thkg) and my opinion is that she is an outstanding educator. I learned and was taught the primary objective of the class... How to think CRITICALLY. She expresses herself clearly and to the point, and is a very sharp and concise speaker. She made ALL of the learning for that particular class fun and meaningful. My 2nd experience was 3 years later when i took her BLS376 class. Again, I would resonate my previous opinion. I to this day owe Eunice, as an instructor and as a person, a big Thank You for the knowledge I have gained from taking these 2 classes. If you want to soak up knowledge, work hard and be mentally rewarded, I would highly suggest these 2 classes taught by Eunice.

Ms. Aaron gives back EXACTLY what she gets from her students. She only seems mean because she stays on your ASS to do what you need to do. Better than what I can say for other teachers. I LOVED Ms. Aaron and I got what I put into the class- an "A". The ones who gave her an "F" probably got the same in her class. Hopefully, NONE of you will be swayed by these underachievers, and take one of the most enlightening and fascinating courses on campus.

I think Prof. Aaron is a fairly good teacher. I really like her lectures because they are interesting and sometimes fun. In the beginning of the semester she caused students to think that she will work you very hard but as it turns out, she doesn't. She does have a few flaws though. For example, she doesn't return papers on time and she can cancel class without notifying the students ahead of time. Overall, I think she is a pretty good teacher.

This class is really fascinating. The teacher may be somewhat mean, though the contents of her lecture are quite stimulating and deep. She talks about issues that get everyone in class involved, which I think helps students learn more. This is no easy class though, so be prepared to study your ying/yang off.

Eunice Aaron may be late to class frequantly, and she may appear to be slightly disorganized, but she is a fair teacher. More than that, her lectures are highly engaging, and thought provoking. You do have to think, but its a critical thinking cource and she tells you at the begining of the semester that she is NOT easy. As a white male my world views have been challenged to see things in a different perspective, and to think in ways I have never thought before. Is this not the premise behind education? If you want a class that gives you daily assignments that teach you nothing, and hardly make you think, don't take Ms. Aaron's class. However, you want your views challenged, a minimum amount of useless homework assignments, and engaging letures that are just as entertaining as they are intelectually stimulating and informational, Eunice is the instructor you want.

I have to step in and defend the honorable Dr. Aaron. While she is often late to class and can be very subjective about grading Dr. Aaron is a wonderful lecturer who has an incredible amount of thought provoking things to say about race in today's society. She can be very harsh and critical but nobody's perfect. I got a C in the class but I felt that I learned so much. Also, Dr. Aaron honestly cares about her students and she doesn't care what race they are she is willing to help everybody all you have to do is talk to her don't be afraid stupid!
