I highly recommend him for a student who has trouble in Math

I must say David was one of the best math teachers I have had at SFSU. He is a fair grader and tries his hardest to make sure his students understand the material. He speaks well and gives great notes, and if you ever need help outside of class, he is always willing to help. He helped me alot, if it wasnt for him and his teaching skills I would have gotten kicked out of state for not passing math70. He is a great teacher as long as you come to class, take notes, and do your homework. You should pass the class with flying colors.

Depends what you're looking for

OK... Nicest guy on the face of the Earth, worst teacher I have encountered in college. He really wants his students to pass, but he is extremely difficult to follow and learn from. Homework is assigned and due once a week. A quiz once a week, two midterms and a final. He is really smart but not teacher material. If math is something you have a difficult time with pick a new teacher, this is not the professor for you. If you are good at teaching yourself from the book and having little direction he is perfect for you. He is really nice and flexible, but it just didn't work for me.

Great Workshop Instructor

David was a great workshop instructor. He knew his information very well and will not stop until he get you the right answer on his own. He uses the solution book for reference, but never solely depends on it. He has a great personality and addresses all questions completely whether it is simple or complex. I understood calculus much better when David goes over it. I only had him for workshop, and that was my experience. I cannot generalize his teaching abilities in a classroom setting, but David was exceptionally helpful.

Great Instructor

I had David Ai for my Calculus AU course. Contrary to his other reviews (which are very immature), David was an EXCELLENT instructor. He was able to explain calculus in a manner that was understandable and easy to learn. He was also very patient and made himself available to students outside of class. Without his help, there was no way I could have gotten through calculus successfully.

Stay Away!!

Honestly, this class wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for his teaching skills. The ones that he doesn't have... Because he doesn't know what he's saying in his lectures at all. It just confuses everyone even more. He gives a quiz every tuesday on a few of the homework questions worth 10 points, homework is collected every tues worth 3 points and gives 2 midterms worth 100. which everyone fails b/c it has nothing to do with what he's taught us. His office hours are horrible, he's never there and he always changes it and forgets to mention it until someone brings it up. He comes late to class and can never really answer a question all he does is avoid it by saying, "Just come to my office hours or go to the tutoring center." So stay away from this instructor he's learning Algebra II at the moment himself.
