Annoying but easy

What can I say about Albert that hasn't already been said. Yes, he's annoying, yes the lectures are read directly from powerpoint which is the same as in the study guide, and yes the class is boring. *But*... He does a great job of hinting at what will be on tests (there are 3 tests, none are cumulative), and the material is VERY straightforward and easy. Anyone could get an A in this class. You should attend the classes because of the hints he gives and for the video cases. Take very thorough notes on the video cases because he asks trick questions about them that you would only know if you saw them. No work due other than the tests. There are some "cleverly" worded questions on the tests so study for them. I recommend reading the book, making flashcards from the powerpoint and scan the book again the night before a test. You'll do well with minimal work.

Teacher with plenty of passion and enthusiasm for his job

This guy was a pretty interesting teacher and did all he can to make his class informative and entertaining. He loves using multimedia and loves what he teaches. There are 3 tests by scantron worth 50 pts each. Your grade is the percentage out of the 150 total points. Pretty straight forward grading and is fair. His tests are not very hard as long as you read the (short) chapters of the book and go to class to watch the videos and other things that he asks you about on the tests. It's his way of getting you to attend class. I had a fun time overrall taking his class and think he's an honestly good teacher with enthusiasm.

The only thing that would probably make you frustrated with his class is if you didn't understand English well. He talks as if he were having a conversation with you and doesn't slow down very much. So international students, be careful. But the book and study guide you buy will help you out.

Creative teacher!

This is not your typical Business Class. You have 500 students in the class, but the plusses are Prof. Albert uses lots of multimedia in his class - videos, pictures, songs. He is very creative and havent had a class like this at all. Some lectures are funny some are just lectures. He has 3 exams, 50 question multiple choice based on lecture and readings. You can make extra credit by participating and talking in front of the class about certain experiences you've had in business.

Easy to pass

i don't know why other people had a hard time in his 405 class... i actually thought he made it easier for us... i didn't even have to read the book because he already made it simple by providing us the important information in the notebook with the powerpoint slides he used in his lectures... his tests come from the lecture... if you came to class and paid attention, the test would be easy... i think that's better than getting tests that's not even covered in class!

"He's teaching by the book"

3 exams, each is worth 50 points. Total possible is 150 points, do the math and that's your grade.

He teaches by the book. He uses powerpoint slides and is exactly in the textbook. His class lecture is boring because it's dull and if you read the book in advance, it is exactly what he's gonna say in class. He plays stupid music/video clips and he thinks help studnets learn but in my opinion, they don't help at all!

He plays video clip at the end of each chapter and pay attention to them because he chooses his exam questions from the videoes (10 out of 50 questions are chose from the video clips)

Basically, if you can memorize the book from page to page, cover to cover, then you'll be fine. If you're looking to acutally LEARN something and acutally APPLY business/management, SKIP HIM!!!

Take his class!!!

Professor Albert is an overall good teacher for management. His exams are straightforward, as long as you study and go to class. There are 3 exams, each with 50 questions and they are not difficult as long as you do an adequate amount of studying!

His lectures do get boring occassionally, but sometimes they are also real interesting. There are videos that you have to go watch and are on the test, but as long as you watch them, the answers are easy. No matter how boring class is, go to class. lol, I slept through half of his classes and look at the grade I got. I didn't even take notes during his class!

You can do without him!

I refraimed from giving Professor "Mike" (as he likes to be called) a lower grade because his 3 exams are pretty straight forward and come straight out of the study guide. Having said this, I did not like his lecturing style at all. I found his lectures extremely dull and repetitive. He goes on and on about nonsense and puts half the class to sleep with his monotone voice. He loves the phrase "in terms of" and will use it every 2 minutes! He likes to brag about how much time he spent putting his lectures together and how brilliant they are because they're multi-media based.

On top of that, I also found him harsh and uncaring. On the first day of class, there were about 670 students enrolled. The class maxes out @ 700 so he had space for another 30 or so students yet he refused to add anyone simply because "the class is so big already!" In my opinion, this is the wrong kind of attitude to have. If you have space you should add students who want to learn! He should not be a teacher if he does not care about teaching students. For those of you whose never been in McKenna theatre where the class is lectured, you may agree with him that 670 is a lot of students. But the fact is, all he does is he stand in front of the theatre with his microphone and go on and on about his stupid ideas. He just stands there and lectures, so it doesn't matter if he has an extra 30 students! His exams are on scantrons and it is his GAs who grade them. He doesn't do any of the work!!!

So you see, any professor who does not care for his students will not get any respect from me. It is ironic that he teaches Mgmt 405 which is suppose to teach all of us how to behave professionally in the real world. He is the antithesis of Prof. Dopp who added 35 students to his class because he cares and wants those who want to learn in his class.

Overall, a good kid.

Mike's a good kid. His lectures are clear, and his tests are exactly what he tells you it is. Its very simple, and easy to pass if you go to class and study his powerpoint slides. It is important to go to class because a small portion of the test questions are based on in class videos that you have to watch.

The "multimedia" aspects of his class that he likes to tout often, whenever he gets a chance, is a little lame. I did not particularly find it very helpful. Just amusing that he finds it amusing.

Take this teacher!

This was a really good class. I enjoyed it and walked away with a lot of new information. I would reccomend this teacher to anyone who has to take Management 405. There are three exams, worth 50 points each. You just need to read the assigned chapters and review his slides. You should go to class because he tells you things you should know for the exam. Overall really good class.

Excellent and effective professor!

I don't think that you will get away from taking his class because he's the only professor that is teaching a class of 600 students! But you won't regret taking Managment 405 with him because he is such an excellent professor! His speaking skill is so clear and he is very knowledgable about his subject!

He makes extra effort in making the class interesting and fun by incorporating music into his slide, reciting poems, talk-show with students who have their own business, interesting videos about different companies, and other activities that will make it worthwile to be in the class. He is also a thoughtful professor because he brought a box with those tiny heart-shaped candy with letters on it for the whole class during Valentine's Day!

Besides all that, he only have 3 exams consisting of 50 multiple choice questions. Forty of the m/c is from the book and 10 is from the videos and "key words," that he emphasizes during lecture. If you don't want to miss easy questions like "the theme of the class," you gotta go to class. Trust me, you will learn a lot and be able to put the things you learn in his class and apply it to real life situation.

I think his class policy is the reason why he got some bad reviews from students. The class starts at 9 but he gives students an additional 15 minutes to come in the theater before his GA closes the door and not opening it. I do think it's a bit harsh because I have to speed run to get to class before the door is closed. But I just think that this is a lesson to learn in being punctual which is important when you have a job or other social functioning that require you to be on time.

I don't know what else to say except that you will enjoy taking Management 405 with Professor Mike!

An innovative teacher

I am surprised of a lot of poor reviews. For MGMT 405, Albert ain't that bad. He has an innovative approach to teaching, which made the class really interesting. Even though the class was held in a theatre and consisted of 600 students, he did a great job in putting it together. His class consisted of video clips, sound clips, and a few talk shows. He tries hard to help students understand the material and he's always willing to answer questions during class. This class should be an easy to pass as long as you're not illiterate, study from the book and the reader, watch all video cases and follow exam rules. There are 3 midterms, each consisting of 50 multiple choice questions. No Final. Overall, his class was very informative, entertaining and easy!

Horrendous professor but easy!!

Professor Albert is a completely jackass. He is so full of himself it is ridiculous and what is funny is that he is the one teaching how to manage, not actually managing in the real world. He repeatedly tells his class how he wrote a best selling text book in the 80's but who really cares? He mentioned it atleast 5 times throughout the semester as if that matters to anyone but himself. He also is extremely rude to students and is not at all what he thinks he is. He thinks he is receptive and open to criticism but he is not. Everything has to be exactly his way or he freaks out. He is really weird. Anyhow, he is teh kind of teacher that I would never want to have again. Stay away from this guy. The funny thing is that it was pretty easy to get an A in his class, but it's not worth the headache of having him for a professor. Oh yeah, his sense of humor is horrendous as well.

not too much efforts to get an A.

Mr. Albert's lecture involves lots of multimedia materials. There are three multiple choice quizes and two papers. Nothing is out of expectations. And his grade is quite lenient. Almost 1/3 of the class can get "A"s only if you put some efforts in it.
