Pam is a very sweet and kind woman. She is very down to Earth and can relate to her students. Pam is very open with all her students, and has even shared some of her past experiences with us from her young and wild years. She grades quite fair, and will always be there if a student needs assistance.I would recommend this teacher to anyone.

She is one of the nicest teachers at SFSU. Yes, she comes late to class a lot and smells like smoke, but that doesn't make her any less of a good teacher. She likes to have discussions that are non-class related which made class funner, yet we were still able to learn what we had to learn. She is a very easy grader, and it makes me wonder if my writing skills improved. My Eng 49 teacher was very hard and gave me C's and D's on my papers... personally, I didn't think my skills improved. I guess she was just a very easy grader. However, her paper topics are very fun to write about and I never had problems writing for them, unlike in Eng 49 where topics were stupid and boring. I recommend Altman... her class isn't boring as you'd expect in remedial English.

ALTMAN IS THE WORST COMPOSITION INSTRUCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! Although she explains her assignments and exercises well, she is constantly late and has problems giving back papers before the final draft is due. Oh, did I fail to mention the that she returns my papers reeking of smoke? Lastly, without being too judgemental of her lession plans, I can sincerly say that I didn't learn anything in her class that I already learn in English 49.

She was the best English teacher I have ever had. She is quick in diagnosising a students writing problems. I would definitely recommend her to other students. She is very easy to understand and is willing to help students. She is a well prepared enthusiastic teacher.

Every student enrolled in Pam's class will learn a lot from her. There is an average of four to five essays per semester and for each essay she would go through every single step of organizing the paper with the class. She doesn't mind people turning in late papers and will not take any grade off. She would review each paper with the students individually once it's been graded.
