If you want to learn anything, take Mark. What to expect: There are 2 books, 6 essays and a small research paper. It felt like there was an essay due every class, because there are first drafts and final drafts that he assigned every week. The course load is pretty intense, so you have to be on schedule with your assignments, but he is lenient and understands people that work. He doesn't let you out early at the beginning of the semester, but at the end you can be out by 9p.m. I took once a week evening class.
He is an easy grader, but if you don't pass an essay, he lets you rewrite it. The class was overall engaging and interesting.

Mark is a great teacher. I got lots of his couragement out from his off lecturing and learned a lot from his lectures. He likes literatures and his insight on his selected readings are helpful. Mark is a sincere teacher, likes to see students' improvements, and he treats every student the same. English is not my first language but he patiently helps me by pointing out my mistakes and courages me to keep on writing. He is not pushy and always gives time for students doing a better job. His assignments are fair, not little, but are enough to learn to read and write better. I would like to recommend him to other students.
