It is a true honor to take a class with this man. I feel so lucky that he teaches most of the audio production courses. Whether you're confident in your skills or somewhat insecure (like myself), John's lectures are so clear and understandable that anyone could learn this stuff! John goes out of his way to make everyone comfortable on the board during any project. I can't wait to take more classes with this man. SFSU is a bettter school because they have John on their faculty!! If you haven't already taken a class with John, do so! You can only gain experience and knowledge through working with the coolest professor at State.

John has the strength of twenty men. You'd have to knee him in the groin to make him mad. Damn! He can make drums sound perfect. He's one of the few teachers I had that made me want to learn more to make him proud of us kids. Also, he's very tactful if you have no musical talent like myself during recording sessions. He's also very fair about alloting studio time and is understanding when you need to crash on those horrible wood benches outside CA43. I miss studying under John. He's a super hero.

more enthusiasm for the subject matter than any other professor i have ever taken a class with. i am a graduate student, so i have had many professors. impeccable and thorough knowledge - both academically and (real world) professionally. john routinely extends class time until a project or complete analysis of a problem is completed. john is also able to make students feel comfortable and relaxed creating a healthy learning environment. and he makes it fun.
