A horribly boring class with a terribly disorgazined project. The exams are out so just get a copy from someone since everyone has it and he never bothers to change it. Just do your assigned part on the project and you're garunteed at least a 'B' in passing the class. You don't even have to show up most of the time as the semester goes on...you honestly don't miss a thing.

This teacher is a joke. He is only interested in small, small details like color(on the verge of obsession) and does not care about content at all! He thinks that it looks professional to have presentations with text in pink and light green colors, when in fact it looks like something a 5-year-old, that just realized that you can use different colors, would write. Also, he has the exact same tests year after year, and still he does not realize why students, even the ones that never attend class, get A's on the midterms... I almost feel bad for him when I am in class, cause everyone in the class room are talking shit about him behind his back. He deserves it though, cause I have never taken a worse class than this, but it is also important that he actually gets critisism to his face, so that he knows that he has to improve big time. The only reason I think students keep taking his classes is that he is famous for being very generous with his grades. I think almost everyone in our class got an A.

What's sad is that Beall doesn't practice what he preaches.
As a member of his class, I heard him tell us that it's important to be unbiased in the process of "focus groups". He seemed really genuine in helping us realize why it's important to remain unbiased and told us what might and could happen. Well ... DANG IT!! If he'd just kept his damn mouth shut during our focus group, our participants would've been more cooperative! He made them feel like insignificant people and that their opinion and the time that had spent in the focus group was a waste of time.
What kind of crap is that?! How can you be a marketing professor and be totally oblivious to the Do's and Don'ts of mktg??
So far in this class, I've noticed that you pretty much need to kiss butt to get a guaranteed A. If you say anything he doesn't like, be prepared to get ripped on about something EVERY class meeting.
Bottom line, it doesn't seem to take much effort to get at least a B. If you actually WANT to learn, I'd suggest looking to one of the other mktg632 professors. (I'm taking him because he was the only one teaching it at night)

Professor Beall.....He means well and is very knowledgable when it comes to Marketing research. I think part of the problem students have with him is that his lectures are extremely boring. Everyone rips into the guy, but what you will get out of the class is an easy A or B. I will put it to you this way,Beall's class every sememster is full> (that should tell you something). He is easy and I highly recommend you suck it up for three months and walk out of the class with a good grade. Easy A class. He does not take role and does not give homework. 2 tests and a group project. If you want a good grade remember "Writing and Planning"group.

It's disheartening to read that students are so out of touch with the process of education and the job of teaching. They whine and complain when they actually have to learn something new or do something other than reading a book and answering test questions. Dr. Beall was my professor over 10 years ago and I still use much of what I learned in his class in my working life. Back then we also had a class project and he pushed us into learning the newest and latest technologies. At first we resisted because we didn't know what to make of this professor who really knows his business and knows what students will be expected to know when they get their first jobs. Dr. Beall is a professor who brings the real working world into the classroom. Instead of sniveling, be grateful that someone is taking the time to keep you up to date instead of just dusting off old notes. It's a shame that students can't appreciate Dr. Beall's efforts and the enormous amount of energy he invests in them and in their education. And it's a shame that students who know absolutely nothing about teaching and who have never taught a semester long class in their lives have a forum for carping about something they know nothing about.

Ron Beall is a very good teacher. I am shocked by all the negative reviews! His tests are ok and if you go to class all the time, you will do well. Group work is important since it is market reserach class. I like his class a lot and learned a lot.

I cannot emphasize how important color, sounds, video clips, and other flashy things are to this teacher. On the first day he hands out a syllabus with his color picture on it and even tells the students that he expects color. For the class you are divided up into different teams to work on one "class" project. Be warned if you are in the Powerpoint group because you are going to be putting in a lot of noises and other transition effects. It might seemed like you're the only one who doesn't know what's going on, but the entire class has no clue of what's going on. He gives you no clear answer of what he wants and the worst thing is for the final presentation, you have a chance of presenting someone else's part of the project, not your own. For ex, you might've been working on the surveys, but for the final presentation you will be talking about how the focus group worked. I can't tell you to ignore the class, because he's the only one who teaches it. Good luck.

Whoever giving an "A" to Dr. Beall is a nut. Giving a "D" is more appropriate. It seems like wasting students' time when taking this course. His self-written textbooks are useless and costly (almost $80 bucks). Lacking of direction. Can't help students at all. If wanna learn how to conduct a good marketing research, it'll be better to choose other professor.

Easiest "A" I have ever received. Need an "A" to boost your GPA, he's the guy to take! Make your reports look nice, and glance his "home-made" book to ace the exam. Exams are mutiple choice, 2 to 3 math problems and a few short answer questions. Whatever you do, don't attend every class, because that will be a waste of time.
