First of all, Dr. Behrooz hardly has an accent (you can hear it, but it does NOT interfere with his clarity). He obviously loves history and loves to teach and as long as you show him courtesy, he will show you courtesy. He's a nice guy with a good sense of humor. His lectures jump around a little, but it's not bad, and he is interesting most of the time. When his lecture isn't interesting, it's not him that's boring but the era. You will absolutely learn in his class. Don't miss any lectures or you'll be in a world of hurt come test time! There are two midterms and a final, but still a lot to review before each test. He'll clue you in on what to bone up on. Overall, I enjoyed his class and would recommend him to anyone who needed to fill a GE history requirement.

I loved Mr. Behroozs class. I think that he is a great scholar. His lectures were interesting and clear. His tests are based on lectures and reading. The problem is that many students don't attend lectures regularly, and then they complain that he is hard. Some students forget that they are at the university, and not in a kindergarten. Most of all, I admired his respect for different views and ideas.

Awful class. Awful. True, I have never been a fan of history, but this guy sure didn't do anything to change that. I couldn't understand half of what he was saying. His idea of a lecture is reading an essay he's prepared. Makes one or 2 jokes over the course of the semester but it doesn't make up for all of the mind-numbing classes.

Mr. Behrooz definitely knows his stuff when it comes to history and I enjoyed his lectures although I did fall asleep sometimes because of my early class before. But his exams were essay ones that I could never seem to please him on and I never got A's in any of them no matter how much studying I did. He's a good teacher, hes just not A grade.

this professor is so knowledgeable in his field that it gave me a lot of pleasure just listening to his lectures. at first, his semi-monotonic voice and his fast pace in talking disappointed me but after a few lectures, i got used to it and instead found his own little sense of humor, his openness to diverse views, and his warm reception of questions to be quite charming and intriguing. his 2 midterms are based on short answer id's and an essay of choice between the two topics. his tests are TOUGH in that he doesn't give any formal review before either of the exams and does not hand out a review guide of any sort. so it is entirely up to the students to know EVERYTHING that's been covered in his lectures and the text. it really takes a lot of dedication to excel in his class, so basically read ahead, attend ALL the lectures, and review throughly befroe each test!!! also, because he expects you to have done all the readings and because of his natural tendency to talk superfast, his lectures tend to be pretty fast-paced, which isn't necessarily all bad as it adds a little challenge to the class and keeps it pretty intense. overall, i found him to be a very amicable and he contributed a great deal to my knowledge and zeal for history!!! my only wish for the future is that he would talk a little bit S L O L E R.....

I came to really like him for his sense of humor and his views, but he was hard to listen to, and i found it hard to take notes because it seemed he was all over the place sometimes.

Professor Behrooz is great! His lecturing is interesting, fun, and very comprehensive. He is very fair, and objective about his subject, a true historian and scholar. Now for your warning, professor Behrooz gives only 2 tests in this class, a midterm and a final. That means that there is an *astronomical* amount of review to do before either exam. Blow either test and your grade will be blown all to hell. On the other hand, his grading is generous and fair. This professor is kind, fun, and very knowledgable. You will have to slow him down once in a while, he is a fast talker, but he is very relaxed and easygoing, encourages discussion and questions, and is generally a wonderful teacher. I'd take him again.

I hated him the first few weeks, but after about the 5th week of school I really started ti enjoy his class. Once you get used to his accent and personality he's got a great sense of humor and is really straight forward about the exams. I'd take him again.

This class was so boring, and i felt that Prof. Behrooz didn't know for sure what he was talking about. He would usually lecture the whole class, but would sometimes go off on a side note, and get lost in a new lecture. Half of the class would fall asleep in his class and he wouldn't even care! The worst thing was that i couldn't understand what the hell he was saying half the time with his accent. Student beware...

Prof. Behrooz is awesome! He uses his lectures and the assigned readings to give you as broad and deep an understanding of world history as you can get in the limited period of time that you have in a semester. His lectures are entertaining as well as informative. He is exellent at teaching history instead of trying to teach a point of view about history which is really refreshing. If you're serious about studying history Prof. Behrooz is an excellent choice!

I didn't have any problems with Prof. Behrooz's teaching style. And I got an A in the class. I thought the lectures were great--as great as they could be considering the subject, and I also thought he taught the subject very well. Sure he docked points for attendance and sure we aren't in high school anymore, if you don't want the points docked you shouldn't miss his class. Plus he is not unreasonable if you talk to him he will understand if you have a pressing reason why you can't attend class. I'll be taking Behrooz again next semester.

All I can say, is that it is a bad sign when you are able to fall asleep the very first day of instruction. I have taken plenty of History classes to know what teachers will be good, and although I am sure he has a great grasp on the subject matter he does not have that prescence that commands the attention of the class. He also will mark down points if you miss his class, come on kids! We are no longer in highschool I personally do not appreciate being docked points for not showing up to class a couple of times and I got an A on all the tests! Three tests all worth 30% of grade.

This guy is awesome. He's a good lecturer and has a great sense of humor. You can ask him for help and he won't turn you away. He wants his students to succeed and will go out of his way to help them. He is also very knowledgeable in the subjects that he teaches.
