Talia's lectures are truly fascinating and fun. She is a wonderful, down to earth professor who teaches with much enthusiasm and a great sense of humor. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and can relay complex information in an understandable manner. You will learn a great deal in her course, but be prepared for a challenge. I am convinced she could make any class fun and interesting! I strongly recommend taking one of her classes.

Great teacher. She expressed her ideas very clearly. You could tell that she had a passion for the topic of Cognitive Psy. Great personality, even though i didn't know what she was talking about, she kept me interested, even though i didn't know what she was talking about. Very down to earth, like other teachers should be. She is so easy to talk to you and she is willing to work with you if you have any problems Warning!!! do not, I repeat, DO NOT, come into her class late and do not talk in class when your are not supposed to. Otherwise she is a great, fun, interesting, and cool teacher. And i would recommend any class she teaches

Dr. Ben-Zeev is *great*! She is really one of the best teachers I've ever had. There are no tests in the class, only a Final Problem. Her class is fairly mellow, just lecture, lab, and homework assignments, until you get to the final project time. The final project, a research study that you design, run, present, and write up, is intense, crazed, disorganized, and will keep you up nights slamming your head into your computer screen and wailing "Why meeeeeee!"
Add to this wretched time a Final Problem methods test, which will make you slam your head harder into the computer screen, and the last 2-3 weeks of this class will turn your brain to jello.
It's worth it.
For all of the unimaginable suffering of the last few weeks of this class, you learn so much from that group project that you get a really great hands on experience about what research in the field is really like. No abstracts here, only brutal reality.
Fortunately, in the real world we will all have months to do research and not weeks. :-)
Seriously, take this class. This professor is great.

Talia breaks the mold for educators. Her lecture style inspires critical thought and her deep body of knowlege gives her the ability to actually answer the questions her students pose to her and then some. (she co-wrote the required text for this class with Robert Sternberg) Her personality is warm and friendly and the amount of support and assistance she offers to all of her students is shocking and greatly appreciated. Make no mistake, however. She expects the same effort from her students and her assignments are challenging. She is not a harsh grader, though, so if you do the work, you will be satisfied. Her class is strictly a project and paper format, so those of you that detest multiple choice tests will be thrilled.

You *want* to take a class with Talia Ben-Zeev. There is frequently a lot of work, and her standards are typically quite high, but they are fair standards, and with application, you will be a better student and writer at the end of the experience.
If there are weaknesses - and I think she is not for everyone - they are in grading in-class midterms, and in her availability out of class. She is involved in many things, which sometimes makes her schedule a mess. That said, once you meet with her, she is there 115% for you.
You want to take a class wiht TBZ.

Talia is the defining example of what a teacher should be like. I am currently enrolled in her course and am so impressed with the class and her teaching ability. To truly enjoy and learn from her class I think you need to have a true passion for psychology. Her lectures are engaging, entertaining and fascinating! She challenges you and makes you think while still maintaining the personable, friendly attitude that makes her so approachable. Most teachers have a hard time finding that balance. She is motivating, encouraging and overall impressive. As far as her teaching style goes, Talia encourages her students to speak out and show their voice in all their work. She is truly interested in what every student thinks. It is refreshing to find a teacher that has this kind of passion for their work! I am eager to see how the remainder of the semester turns out. If you have the chance and the passion for learning, take a class from Talia!

I loved this class for Proff. Ben-Zeev's enthusiasm, availability, approachability, and dedication to teaching the material. It was however the single hardest class that i've ever had to take... and i'm a senior these days. Lectures were brilliant, and often hillarius as well. Her teaching style was accessable without the deadly-boreing dumbing-down that too many faculty fall into. The hard parts came in when attempting to complete unclear assignments, work in unwealdy groups on a project that basically decided the entire class grade, and in dealing with numerous facility/technology issues. Enter at your own risk, and prepare to empty your social calendar for the last 3-4 weeks of class, but you will get something out of this class if you're breathing, and show up for lectures unfailingly. Best of luck!

I took PSY 471 with Ben-Zeev. If you want to pass your stats and research requirement easily...take this class. It is a 7 unit class, and it seems like a 3 unit class. We have weekly assignments that are not that hard as long as you attend the lectures. She just wants you to prove that you've understood what she's been saying the previous week. But...towards the final two weeks of the course, it starts to get intense. We had a final problem to solve, and oral presentation and an individual term paper. As far as the teacher, she is excellent. I mean, her personality is great. She really understands the students, because she just got out of college herself. She's very intelligent. She got her PHD (or something like that) from Yale University.
