Carel Bertram

I took this class a few semesters ago, and found it a really fun way to learn about San Francisco. She knows her stuff, uses different methods to teach, and has taught me to appreciate San Francisco. The tests are really easy, the paper is a little bit difficult, but she is not a hard grader and will help you get it right if you ask her. She is a very nice person. Extremely compassionate. She really helped me in her outside class office hours too, which actually helped me stay in school and finally find a major that is great for me. I think she is great, and I would recommend her.

Carel is a very understanding teacher who makes every effort to accomodate you to class. This San Francisco class was once a week 3hour night class, and by nature it is not the best class but she puts on movies to the second part so that you don't feel all beat up. She is very giving, she brought drinks and snacks to class three times. She also brought in interesting people to make the class more fun...I believe that she will improve this class if she teaches again, so do not hesitate take her class!

Professor Bertram became one of my favorite professor because she is one of the most understanding teachers i have taken and met.Miss Bertram is very outgoing and interesting and i recommend her to anybody that takes Hum 425. What else? The class is very easy How? she makes it really easy for you by giving detailed notes and all the test and quizes "are EASY" as long as "you read" and "make them".... trust me! by:Iceman

Carel is a Fantastic teacher! I loved her lectures! she puts on power point presentations for every class! She puts so much effort into every class! One thing to notice is that she will give you B's and C's on all your class work and give you a A- for the class! She looks for improvment and the amount of effort put forth in class and in the projects.

Dr. Bertram is an inspirational teacher! She is so passionate about her subject (religious studies) that even if you have no prior interest or knowledge, she makes the subject relevant and interesting. I have not encountered a teacher who is so willing to make sure that the student is learning and the subject is fascinating to everyone in class. She is very strict about the quality of papers that she receives, but she gives suggestions on how to improve each paper for either a better grade or suggestions for the next paper. I would recommend Dr Bertrams classes to everyone.
