Great teacher!

Bhandari was great, I'm definitely gonna take him for ECON 101. He really knows his stuff and his lectures are very interesting. And he also has a pretty good extra credit system if youre lagging behind (extra credit is a lot of work though). Despite that, you can't get everything thats gonna be in his exams from his lectures. You definitely wanna read the textbook if you wanna ace the class.

Best Teacher EVER!!!!

What can I say? Funny, intelligent, great teaching style! All that you can ask for in the perfect teacher and more. Although Econ isn't exactly the most "funnest" course that you can take, Mr. Bhandari certainly goes out of his way to change that. He makes a gigantic effort to do all that he can (considering there are at least a hundred students in each of his classes) to make each and every one of his students really grasp the concepts of economics. He is also such a dedicated teacher that he takes time away from himself to help his students learn outside of class. Practically, always readily available (even checks his email pretty often!) -- as long as YOU are willing to learn, he will teach.

There's just so much to praise about him that I can't even sum it up here. He's just a great teacher, and from all the posts before me, it should be quite apparent! If you're reading this Mr. B, thanks for all the help you've given to us! (Makes econ actually seem - gasp - cool) I just hope there's more teachers like him around.

Best teacher I have ever had

This is the best college teacher I have ever had. He is extremely fair, and the lectures actually make sense. Unlike other teachers, he offers extra credit. I recommend taking him for as many classes as he teaches. He is young, so he is able to understand his class.

The most friendliest, dedicatest, and smartest teacher"

Bhandari is one of the most nicest and smartest teacher I have ever had at State! He is very passionate about his teaching, encouraging students to input their ideas or opinions and he is ALWAYS available if you have questions concerning class lectures! This teacher is unbelievable, amazing, and the most friendliest teacher one can ever have. His homework should be easy as the answers are in the back of the book or on the internet but to be a smart student as he says, you have to parapharase instead of copying word for word. Get it! He allows students to insure themself in the class by doing extra credit even though it takes up a good 2 hours of your time! I wish I had been more of a studious student, studying more than I should to do good on his test because the look on his face when half of the students fail the test was very upsetting. Despite it all, he allows students to redeem themselves. Honestly, to be in his good grace, you have to work hard to show him that you care about the class. He is the best Econ. teacher and I hope I have him again for Econ 101! Take him and you will see that he is too nice. I don't know how many times I repeat nice but HE REALLY IS!

You won't regret it!

Mr. Bhandari is a really smart teacher. He knows what he is talking about and is perfectly prepared each day. Not only is he a guy you can comfortably approach, but he helps you in all aspects of economics. At first I wasn't doing too good in the class (mostly because i didn't show up), but then Mr Bhandari helped me out a lot in explaining economics to me. His lectures are very understandable, and not tedious like other classes. I took this class because I need it for my major, but I would definitely recommend it to other majors as well. You learn many interesting facts and theories about economics, and you learn how economics effects everything around us. Believe it or not, economics is a huge part of our lives. So why not learn economics with someone that will teach it properly? If you're looking for a good economics teacher, choose Bhandari--you won't regret it.

Professor with great personality: Ravi Bhandari

Well, even though I didn't do well on the first midterm in the class, I knew I had to get help. Prof. Bhandari assisted me in every way possible, and with his outstanding and friendly personality, it was very easy to approach him when I was having difficulty in the class. He incorporated many interesting stories to ease the toughness of the subject, making it easy to comprehend the material. Prof. Bhandari also helped me with some issues I had in the class, that he had an open mind to help me out and to overcome a conflict. The way he treated students was with the utmost respect that he is greatly appreciated for all of his hard work in teaching the class. I can find no other teacher/professor that can match his outstanding personality with students. He treats all of his students equally, which is extremely a quality that he best possesses!

Definetly the one!

Professor Bhandari is a great teacher. I just recently completed his Economics 100 this last fall semester. He is an excellent teacher. Professor Bhandari has the ability to take a subject that can be difficult and make it seem interesting and understandable. I was very intimidated by this class and when I saw the sylabus and all of the work that it required I knew that I was not going to make it half way this course. After the first exam I went to speak to Professor Bhandari about what I was doing wrong in my studying and he offered to meet with me at least once a week to see that I was getting the material. He is the only professor that offers extra credit at San Francisco State. He is willing to take on the extra work himself if it will help his students learn and comprehend the material better. I was not sure that I would make it through the class but with his help I was able to make it through and get a better grade than I expected. Professor Bhandari is able to make the course understandable in day to day life. He can connect what the book is talking about to what is happening in the economy today. If I had to recommend anyone to take this class Professor Bhandari is definetly the right choice. You will leave his knowing and understanding economics and understanding it's role in our day to day lives. There isn't anything that Professor Bhandari won't do to make sure that his students pass. He is very approachable and is more than willing to make time to meet with students...in fact he will even make time on the weekends to meet with students who can not meet during the week! Professor Bhandari is very sincere, intelligent , and genuine Professor. He is willing to go as far as it takes to make sure that the students understand Economics. Speaking from experience Professor Bhandari is definetly a winner!

The perfect choice!

This was my first semester at San Francisco State as a transfer student. I had planned to take Econ at my old junior college during the summer but I was told that I had to take it during the fall. Reluctantly I picked Professor Bhandari and I knew that I was going to fail the class because everyone had told me that Economics was a really hard class. When the class began and Professor Bhandari handed out the syllabus....I almost started crying!!! It was 12 mor 13 pages long and the asnignments seemed never ending. The semester went on and I muddeled through and I had family problems come up..Professor Bhandari helped me through and was very patient with me. If I could not make it to class he would e-mail me or call to let me know what it was that I had missed. He is a very sincere and kind person. He really wants the students to learn the material and to understand it as well. He is very friendly and is willing to do whatever it takes to help you as a student through the semester. I highly recommend Professor Bhandari as the teacher to go with for Econ.....it is a lot of work but with his help you can not go wrong. If you really want to learn and have a good experience with Economics Professor Bhandari is definetly the guy to go with. P.S. Thanks again for everything Professor Bhandari...you are truely an ANGEL!

This class was HARD, But FUN for me....

Professor Bhandri is one in a million!!! In the beginning I was not register for his class. Instead I was in a different class. I was not sure why I was in his class because I just sat in his class for my next period class. I was bored out and I was new to the school. His lecture’s was what got me in to his class. For me I thought his lectures were very amusing. I came in to his class pretty late, but his office hours were what helped me the most. Not only the office hours he would go out the way every weekend to meet with all the students that needed his help, that could not make it to see him during the week. He is of the most interesting man I have met because a lot of professor’s I meet don’t have time to see me and since. I am a freshman at SFSU right now and like me everybody knows that it is very stressful the first year for everybody. Also it was hard from too because I just moved to this city to major in business too. Besides seeing Mr. Bhandri as a teacher, he is also a very down to earth kind of guy. He is more like a best friend that you have known for a long time, but still it’s been like a few days since you have meet him. From what I have been saying it seem like his class is pretty easy, but it’s NOT! If you really want to learn Economics he can show you in a group or one on one. So for all Business majors that is taking his Econ 101 look him up because you know there aren’t a lot of teachers willing to go out of there way to help YOU!!! This is James Banh and if you want to ask me more about this class feel free to email me: Greatsage007@hotmail.com

A needle in a haystack!

Professor Bhandari is truly a needle in a haystack.

Since I was scared of taking micro, I had done some research on other professors who taught the same course. I didn't see too many good reviews, and chose to try for Professor Bhandari's class.

I tried to get into his class in Spring 2000. I was not even on the class waiting list, but right away I knew he was willing to help me. He was very encouraging, unlike other teachers who would just remark that their roll sheets were full. He told me to hang in there, and that he would try to get me in.

After I had made it into his Economic 101 class, I thought I could just breeze through it. I was more so conceited, because I was already a senior. Boy, was I wrong! This class was challenging. Although his lectures were excellent, there were a lot of materials, and everything related to one another. All his assigned homeworks and the optional extra credit really make you think.

To be honest, I stumbled upon some personal issues, and felt very discouraged. Although I was doing well, I was thinking about withdrawing from his class. I found out then that not only was Professor Bhandari a really good teacher, but also a student profesor who can relate, sympathize , and understand the pressures of student life. He never talks down to people, but then again he expects more from his students than almost any professor I have had. The most incredible thing is that he can get you so excited in the material that you lose track of just how difficult the course is. Not only was I happy to stick with the course, I know I learned a lot and did well in the end.

After taking Professor Bhandari's class, and from what several people I know have said, I realize that his class is the hardest in terms of what you have to learn, compared to other teachers. I was surprised I had learned so much without even knowing so. Believe me, although Professor Bhandari was very understanding, and I did well in his class, it wasn't all fun and games. He expects the best from himself and his students. I did a lot of extra credit, completed all the homeworks, and read all the assigned chapters.

I should also point out that even though he is very funny, always full of dry wit,and extremely helpful, he is also a tough and tradidtional-type teacher when it comes down to it. He expects the best from himself and his students. He also takes suggestions, and contructive criticisms very well, and listens to your concerns. That is why he is truly an exceptional teacher.

I highly recommend Professor Bhandari, because he spend his time to cheer me on, and encouraged me to try my best. He has an unbelievable ability like no teacher I have ever seen to get rid of a students fears and intimidation with a very difficult subject matter. He successfully does this by believing in his students abilities and making abstract concepts extremely clear in a way students can understand. If you don't understand the material and want to, he will always go the extra mile for you. He seems very happy when any student really understands somthing they thought they could never get. He spends his time to explain things, and does so for as many times as are needed, and always with lots of patience.

His strengths and knowledge of the subject matter is illustrated through his meticulously planned lectures. His love for teaching is clearly shown. He is reliable, always on time, and never once missed lectures. Not only does his students come first, he clearly masks a very friendly and down-to-earth personality by cleverly making students believe in their fullest potential.

I wish all my Professors were like that, because I believe learning economics really depends on how good the teacher is, unlike other classes, which gives me even more reason to highly and fully recommend Professor Bhandari. If it wasn't for his dynamic teaching style, I wonder what I would have come out with. I really can't believe how much micro I actually learned. I feel very well prepared taking intermediate micro now, which I never would have thought of doing before.

For anyone who is seeking a good teacher, who cares about your academic ability, this is the one. Take it from a student with senior status. In fact, if I had a professor like him earlier, I may have majored in economics!

THE BEST!

This was one of my first classes at SFSU and it was one of my favorites. Basically I didnt do anything in class. I took the tests, did some HW and ended up passing the class. Economics to me is a very dull subject, and still is. But i'm just glad that Mr. Bhandari is a profesor at state, cuz for those who really want to know the topic he really knows the shit. He even lets you do ur work on a self paced set up which was cool. So if you wanna BOMB @$$ teacher take bhandari u wont be dissapointed! R.J

Bhandari can teach!!!!!

Mr. Bhandari is not only one of the most credible individuals in SFSU's economics department, but also shows how much he wants his students to succeed in learning the subject. He truly cares about his students and treats them with individual respect rather then a social security number. The best teacher that I have ever taken due to the fact that he went out of his way to help me have a better understanding of a economics and economic theories which i once had difficulty understanding. P.S. Bhandari, good luck on the Book. By A.R

A great teacher

I would definately recommend this class to everyone. If you are discouraged when it comes to economics Bhandari is the best teacher. He is motivating and wants his students to do well. He reviews for all tests and gives extra credit. If you go to class and read you will do well.

This was cake

this is a good class to take. He's very generous with extra credit if you're not doing well in the class. He makes everyone form study groups to do the problem sets- this- is helpful if you can't understand something or if you don't want to so all the problems yourself. the test are fairly easy, they are usually a combination of multiple choice and essay. He's always willing to help if you're having trouble. Basicaly teaches from the book but lecture is helpful.- usually same problems on the test as the ones that were discussed in lecture.
