one of the very best prof in SFSU

Prof Sudip is a very smart person, he knows the subject very well. He is able to simplify some very complex contents and make it very easy for students to learn. His handwrtiting is not that bad actually, if you take notes in class and do some review before each exam then you have no problem in getting a good grade in this class.

ECON 101 rocks with Professor Sudip!

Professor Sudip (as he likes to be called) is wonderful to take during the summer session. He is very thorough in his lectures and is willing to go over the homework (online quizzes you download off his website). His exams covers the lecture material and the homework problems, so if you pay attention and do your work, you'll do great in the class. He's always there to help, especially if you're struggling. I definitely would recommend him.

Too easy

too easy. did not challenge me at all. this was more of an environmentalism 101 class rather than economics. if you want an easy class, and know very basic economics, then this is it. if you want to learn something, then i dont recommend this. the way he explained his economics was somewhat confusing for none econ majors in the class. unless you want an easy class i dont recommend this.

Take your notes in pencil!

Sudip, as he likes to be called, is a solid teacher. He is willing to take the time to explain complex issues, and is not afraid to say when he doesn't know the answer to a question. The journal articles that we had to read for this class were interesting, and sparked good conversation for those in the class that pay attention. His test's are straight forward and the homework is applied examples of what was taught in class.

Sudip has horrible chalkboard skills...he is constantly erasing what he has written on the board, because he has made a mistake...TAKE YOUR NOTES IN PENCIL. Sudips teaching style can be a bit frustrating to those who like a solid and structured lecture, but mopst students will appriciate his teaching style. A good teacher, take him for any class he teaches.

well worth taking

This guy was great, he made econ interesting and fun. I took him during the summer and he made 4 hour econ lectures fun. His teasts are very fair. If you pay attention and study you will get an "A". A great guy too. A bit hard to understand, but his class is well worth it.

A++++ Teacher

Dr. Sudip, as he likes to be called, is an eager prof. that will get to be a great teacher as his experience expands. He really wants to help you understand the materiel. He is always available during his office hours, he answers his e-mail in minutes...even on the weekends. He does make some simple symbolic and math errors during his lectures, and has a tendancy to use the same greek letter for multiple parameters and statistics. But if you read the book and do the assingments. You are sure to have an easy and rewarding experiance in his class. Sudip is an eager, caring, and competent teacher. I would suggest taking him.

Easy Easy Easy

I got pretty lucky to be added on the 2nd week of summer school, because I hear that he only teaches FIN 309 in the summer. Most of you readers have probably read reviews for Yip. And some of my finance buddies have told me that he is very tough.

Sudip is such an easy teacher because he assigned only 3 take-home exams for the summer. 4 exams originally, but the class ran out of time for the summer. The take-home exams is by no means any easy. The exams are not hard, but does require a substantial amount of time to get an "A" on the exams. The questions for the take-home exams are pretty much the same concept or idea from his excel lecture. Everything in class and the exams are in excel format.

Sometimes in class, he lectures too much on formulas and equations. Just like calculus teachers do in class. But his class was in one of those computer labs, so you can play games or research your stock portfolio online. =)

Just take a look at his website and syllabus, and see how easy it is. Finally, no need to buy any textbooks for this class, because his lectures and his notes provided in his website are enough.
