Proffessor Chemouni actually makes math understandable to those who would much rather curl up and die. I took her summer course and even though I spent my whole summer re-learning Algebra, she made it painless and even fun. The way she teaches is very effective and I practically aced all the exams, thanks to her detailed descriptions. I think she's cool because she laughs at her own jokes and counts to herself in French. If State if taking your money and making you remediate math, Chemouni is the best way.

When I came to SFSU, I was so pissed that I had to take remedial math classes. Personally, I hate math because I was never good at it. I took Math 60 and 70 with Ms. Chemouni. When you first meet her, she has a warm personality. Sometimes she act weird but, hey, she's from France. Homework is given once a week and you have until the next week to do it. One quiz per week and one Final. Most of the questions are out of the textbook. All you have to do is study and the test should be easy. She is always willing to help students out if their haveing problems with a certain area.
She made Math 60 and 70 easy. I would definately recommend her to everybody taking remedial Math.

i was admitted into sfsu with the agreement that i would need to take both math 60 and 70 and pass them during the duration of my first year or would need to leave sfsu. my dad predicted a disaster and was already contemplating what he should do with me once he recieved my "report card" saying i had flunked these classes. i was so lucky however, to find the best math professor i have ever had! all the sudden, math problems made sense, something i never thought would have happen. i understood everything and actually became kind of interested. i had gone in with the attitude that i would just try hard to pass and then i would never have to deal with math again but to my surprise, i found myself trying to ace the class. i began to actually solve problems correctly and felt like i knew what i was doing. This gave me a sense of accomplishment like no other- kind of a relief because you know youre right! Elizabeth Chemouni really couldn't be any better for students who have had a hard time with math. She takes things step by step, is very fair in her teaching and does not complicate things for your existence, actually she simplifies them by staying consistent with the procedure she solves problems with. she completely understands every student and works with them until she is assured they get it. seriously, if you think youre not going to make it through these mandatory classes, take her! as far as her attitude goes, she doesnt treat you like a high schooler, if youre there youre there, if youre late youre late, its just understood that its your benefit to attend and be on time is only respcetful. plus she is always happy, smiling, laughing, in a good mood and just knows what its like to be a student trying to get past these boring classes. if you dont have problems with math, save this wonderful professor for those who do!!! please!! and her french accent is charming-and yes you do understand her perfectly.
