She is very interested in the students development as a writer and not on the students development as a narrow-minded thinker. She is unorthodox in her teaching. I'm taking her for a Community Projects in Literature class this semester and her style of teaching proves its effectiveness only after I've done them. You will find that a bad review of her here occurs as a matter of the student not speaking to her to solve a problem directly. I highly recommend her.

Michelle's classes are hard to describe. I've taken 2, and they're not like any other classes I've taken here or elsewhere. You never quite know what to expect class to class, in a way that's exciting. The readings are intense and unusual, the writing assignments she gives weekly (usually more than one a week, and you can pick which ones you do) are truly amazing. She's incredibly smart and incorporates her knowledge of many art forms and disciplines into these classes, so you end up writing things you wouldn't have written otherwise. You also get the feeling she's really interested in her students and what can happen in the classroom. One of the very best teachers of my long school life.
