James Chester teaches 6-th grade, so if you are taking this class you should expect the same treatment. At first the class seems pretty easy, especially if you have an average knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary. I thought that if I do the work I can get an easy A, well he gave me a B for tardiness even though I received an A on all my speeches and tests. All the assignments that he gave us were the same - writing a memo... I recommend this teacher only if you want to get an easy grade, though you have to be there always on time. If you want to learn something else about business communication you should definitely look for a more competent teacher.

Middle school teacher by day, college professor by night. He's no superhero, but he's definitely the guy to take for BUS 360, especially if you're scared of giving speeches. Chester is soft-spoken, understanding, and friendly, which sets up a supporting environment for students afraid of public speaking. Because he's only on campus one night a week, he's easily accessible by email, which he checks everyday.
Assignments: The first assignment is to write a resume and cover letter, which is great practice for when you are looking for a real job. Then throughout the semester, you write three memos and give speeches on them. At the end of the semester, you must complete a major research paper and PowerPoint presentation with an assigned partner. This takes a lot of work and time so pray that you don't get paired with a slacker!
Tests: There is one midterm, which is worth a lot of points so study very hard for that. It consists of grammar questions and essay questions. The final is not cumulative, considerably easier, and worth less points. Chester knows the students are busy with the final project.
So if you can take a night class, then go for Chester. He'll make public speaking a lot less stressful than you imagine it to be!
