Kami Chisholm

This class could have been very interesting if taught by a different teacher. Lectures were difficult to follow because she had no format. We would spend majority of the class debating instead of learning. This made it difficult when exams rolled around because it was unclear what material we would be tested on. When she did teach, it was hard to follow her because the language she used was difficult to understand (if you're not a PhD on the subject). Also, I felt that she favored the students who were lesbian and made more effort to relate to them. I did ok in the class but would not recommend her.

Kami is the worst teacher ever. She maintains certain views in class and then grades you harshly if you write in a manner that does not agree with her. She writes extreamly rude comments on your papers and speaks to you like your the stupid one. I received an A in the class, so Im not complaining because of a bad grade. The only reason I got an A is because I formatted my papers to HER opinions or the opinions of the TA (she grades some of the papers). Her midterm and final are in class essays and you never know what you are going to get because it depends if she grades them or not and if she agrees with your opinion. She fills the class time by complaining about the school meanwhile not knownig that it is because of teachers like her! One more final complaint the title of the course should not be named "Women in History". It should be "African American Women's Studies". Not that I don't find this topic interesting, but they already have African American studies classes on campus. If you think that you will learn in some kind of orginized time line and learn about key women such as Susan B. Anthony or Rosa Parks, think again. No key women are covered. You read fictional books and learn nothing by the end of the class. By the way she takes attendance and you must be there and her lectures are extreamly boring. All she does is babble about her opinions. If you enroll and get her, drop immediatly. If you decide to stay in the class, bring something to do and take notes of her opinion and write about it!

Kami has done an excellent job teaching this very interesting class. Her interest and knowledge in the areas of gender, sexuality, film, and cyberculture all come together magnificently in this course. The reader that she put together was excellent. Her tests were well written and fair. She gives students a lot of freedom to choose a final research project that they are personally interested in. I highly reccomend taking this course with her.

She changed the class totally around. Half of the semester we learned about Lesbians and Feminists in American culture not Women in U.S. History and Society. She ruined the class it doesn't even closely resemble the description in the bulletin. She can't teach either, I didn't learn a damn thing because she doesn't know how to teach. The class was always empty because everyone left after signing the roll because they had better things to do. Overall this teacher was horrible don't take her!!!!!!!
