Proffesor's Danko lectures and preparedness were a BIG plus for me. His lectures were easy to follow he has a thorough understanding of the material and if you have time and do all the homework before the class when he goes over the homework you will do great. The homework ranges from simple to hard on your test expect the harderst questions from your homework so unless you have thorough understandign of the material you won't be able to do well. That is my only negetive about proffesor Danko his tests are really hard. But he does curve and can be fair when grading. If you want to learn a lot I would definetely take his class but be prepared to do the work. To me he is what teaching should be about and how it should be done. Most teachers now days read from power point and don't have lectures prepared. Danko is one of the exception he has great interactive lectures for you.

This course was a very challenging one. Professor Danko made every topic as clear as it could have been. He uses powerpoint for his lectures which illustrate problems very well. He is clear in what he says and what is expected of you. He collects homework on a daily basis and grades them. You do not have to arrive at the correct answer everytime, but you have to show effort. Professor Danko is pretty stern on his grading scale and you would really have to work in order to get a good grade from him. His exams can be quite a challenge as well. But overall, he is easy to deal with and I must say I learned a great deal from him.

Professor Danko gets a large amount of information across efficiently and goes over homework in class as well as lecturing. He makes his notes available to reduce notetaking. He will assume that you can do high school math and won't stop the class to explain such topics.

If you don't like accounting, please don't take his class. His test are hard and tricky. He gives sample exams a day before the test and it doesn't help at all. All the multiple choice questions are totally different and there is only 1 similiar short answers. He doesn't collect homework. Overall, HE IS A HARD TEACHER!

As you can see from the other reviews, you either love him or hate him. I thought he was good because he was thorough and pushed students to get the best out of them. There are easier profs, whom I have heard, do not set such a fast pace but from which, you might not get so much. The emphasis is on doing it yourself, and to help, he has a great website with loads of problems, so you can get as much practice as you need.
Note: allow 15-20hrs a week for homework.

Mr. Danko is an excellent accounting teacher. His lecture is very clear and systematic. There are homeworks every class but homeworks will only be graded on efforts. And he will explain them in detail the next class period. There are four exams altogether. There are T/F, multiple choice questions, and problems. Nothing will be unexpected. He has a very convenient homepage with all the solutions and sample tests listed. And he will post grades always within two days after the exams. He is also humorous and easy to get well with. I really learn a lot in his class and my efforts lead to satisfying results.

I think Dr. Danko is an excellent teacher. I gained an exeptional amount of knowledge about accounting during the semester I spent with him. I thought he had a great sense of humor which is rare in the business and accounting departments. His homework assignments were very fair and focused on the topics that were most important. The tests were difficult but if you did the work then it was possible to do well. Dr. Danko did not tolerate slackers which is something San Francisco State needs more of!

Enthusiastic and well organized, Prof. Danko successfully overcomes the challenges of teaching an enourmous amount of material to a room full of graduate students with a wide variety of backgrounds. The pace was very fast out of necessity. Prof Danko is very generous in providing supplemental materials to help prepare students for exams and quick to respond to e-mail. The grading system is fair and straightforward. Unless you are already familiar with Accounting, be prepared to work very hard.

I know he's a great teacher and all but he just puts me to sleep. I don't know whether it's because my class is in the afternoon or his voice. Anyways, he tries to help in anyway he can. He class lectures follow his reader which you don't need to buy. You can print it off his website along with his practice exams. His tests consist of 4, 35-40 questions scantron test, non comprehensive. He doesn't collect homework, but it would be nice to do them so you know how during the exams. His practice exams are a great help as long as you study them ahead of time. Don't procasticate on the studying like me. I got an A on the first test and got D's on the next couple ones. He also adjust his grade cut-offs so that helps too. Try not to sleep cause you miss out on a lot of good examples! Other than that, he's a great teacher that really knows his stuff. Look out for his short cuts too. They make the material so much more easier to understand.

Professor Danko was basicly a good teacher. He covered the materials clearly in class. He assigned some homeworks and collected them every single week. The homeworks were really helping us to understand the materials more clearly. Most of the time, I think homeworks and the sample exams that he gave us really helped me on my preparation for the exams. However, there were some aspects that made me feel that he wasn't a good teacher for MBA/MSBA classes. First of all, even though he gave us solutions for the homeworks that he showed on the overhead projector, but we never got the hardcopies of those homeworks. There was occasionally when students arrived at class a little bit late and missed the discussion. They never got the solutions for their own study. Secondly, the exams were averagely very difficult. Even though he graded quite fairly, but there was no curve at all for the final grade that I received. For MBA students, I think he has to understand and be a little compromised for grades he assign for us. This is a graduate program, but how come did he still grade so tough?? Last, the thing that disturbed me the most was his behavior/rule. I found it was very difficult to have a communication with him. Not a very communicative and understanding teacher!

The class included 4 tests and homework (that he collected) every week. The lectures were interesting and challenging (very, very, very challenging). Prof Danko was obviously interested in the subject, and was interested in helping us understand the material. I found him easy to understand, although there were times that either he didn't understand the question I was asking or I didn't understand his answer.
There were two textbooks. The first textbook, _Financial Accounting_ by Stickney and Weil, was fairly comprehensive but didn't have questions that had the level of complexity of some of the in-class examples. The tests were very, very hard; the sample exams that are available on his SFSU site were the most helpful study tools I found. The second textbook, _Managerial Accounting_ by Hilton, covered all the material in a very comprehensible manner.
Prof. Danko was always prepared. He started the classes on time, and usually didn't end class until the scheduled time. The only reason I didn't give him an A was because of the occasional communication problem.... That, and he's a tough grader - why shouldn't I be?

If you want to learn accounting, Dr. Danko's class is the one to take. He explains everything very clearly and has the patience of a saint. He also has a sense of humor, which is amazing considering the subject matter. There are lots of homework, but you will be thoroughly prepared for the tests. The tests are very fair--you get credits even for partially-completed problems. I enjoyed Dr. Danko's class and recommend it highly.

Initially, Danko shocked me with his presentation of classroom rules. During the experience of taking his class, I was often put off by his comments and some of his actions. After the fact, I realize he was an effective professor. I didn't do too well grade-wise, but I remember a lot of the material covered, and am happy to have had the class with Prof Danko.

Professor Danko was by far the most interesting accounting teacher I have ever had. I actually thought that his teaching style was straight textbook stuff. You can read the information yourself and still get the same information. He also had a system that if you asked an 'intelligent question' he would give you a bonus point that would be added to your final grade. This I felt inhibited students from really asking a question. Because in the end, you know that if he didn't feel your question was good enough, he would just mock you in front of the class with smirk as if saying that he couldn't believe you asked such a question. I wouldn't recommend him.

Professor Danko is, perhaps, the best instructor possible for this course. He is enthusiastic, articulate, well-organized, and (surprise!) funny. His class is demanding, and it is essential to keep up with the reading and know the homework cold. You'll read the two textbooks cover to cover, and spend several hours each week doing the assigned problems. The four exams are difficult but fair. Professor Danko lectures by the book (so it is possible to miss a class and still do well). So what's missing? I'd like to see topics that go beyond the scope of the text. It would be great if Danko used some case studies to discuss (for example) accounting computer systems, ethical issues, and the impact of corporate financial statements on securities analysis.

Dr. Danko is an excellent instructor. This class is fairly demanding, there is a lot of homework, but the homework is excellent preparation for the exams. As long as you keep up with the homework assignments and pay attention in class, there are no surprises on the tests. I highly recommend Danko for this course.

Prof Danko is an interesting professor. He makes his class relatively easy for an accounting class. His assignments are credited when you turn them in, but not corrected: an easy A on assignment. I particularly appreciated his posted sample exams that were very helpful. I would greatly recommend his class.
