Matt is a wonderful instructor because he explains materials very clearly. He tells you exactly what kind of problems is gonna be on the exam. He also grades on a curve and treats students very well. If you go to all classes and study the class notes, you should do well on the exams, since every exam question is covered on the lecture. What more can you wish for?

Dowling started the semester by saying that the book that we will be using is designed for Accounting majors who are preparing for CPA exam and is taught over 2 semesters. However we, accounting Non-majors will be going over this book in one semester. Overall the book is not bad...chapters were too long to read as only parts were taught in class. His exams have both multiple choice and problems. The problems come from the homework assigned. The multiple choice however are CPA exam questions (?!?) and are very confusing. There are no PPT slides of lectures so you need to keep good notes. Dowling does not lecture on the chapter instead he spends most of the time on the homework problems. When he is not discussing problems he can put you to sleep as he makes huge pauses between words so 1 sentence can take several minutes. Overall he is alright, a little strange but alright. If he would have lecture notes, go over multiple choice and have a review before exams it would be a much better course.
