Bad teacher !

This is a bad teacher. The theme of the class was too specific and boring. She is disrespectful and rude to students, unfair and is not open to suggestions. She has a difficult personality and should be doing something else instead of teaching. It was a waste of my time and money.

Give her kudos.

She is not that bad. But I tell you this much. As far as I have read the reviews and comments about her and my own experience of taking her English 310 course, I realized one thing. If you are going to take her course, you should know one thing about this teacher. That is, she doesn't put any damn trust on her students at all!

She is not bad

She is not a bad teacher. All you need to do is just follow her rules and turn in all your work on time. Her grading is kind of strict but she is straightforward. If you want to do well in her class, you must be awared of those essays and tests. When you are doing a in class essay exam, you need to be awared of "Grammar". Contents seem not that important. Do not write too long. Just answer these given questions. But for those essays, you have to take care of your contents and grammar. Both of them are important. For these short writing assignments, you must at least get a + or check+. Do not get too many - or check, therefore you can get a good grade like A-. If you work very hard, you may get an A. Her class is not hard. These assignments are not difficult. Just follow her rules carefully.~ One of her bad things is she might not know some grammar stuff whenever we ask her. She always responses something like that she will find out the answer for us. Sometimes she is funny to class.~~

Fair and Usual Teacher

Since this is a grammar class, it is very easy. There are four essay exams and five 1-page papers. They are also easy.

Some students seemed to hate her, but I think she is very nice and fair. She tries to answer any question, make it clear what we should do, and make our English solid.

Overall, she is not the best, but she is good.

She is one of the best teachers in this department.

I was taking her class in Fall, 1999. She is one of my favorite professors in SFSU. I like her teaching style, which is different from others. I admitted that she taught the Rap music and Hip Hop. But these are some of the American's culture. Since we are all adults and live in US, we don't need to care about sexual lyric. I think it it was a good way to learn something from other culture, especially for the ESL students. I likeed her office hours, which I really got help from it. She is a very nice person and fair grader. I really recommend students who need to take this class.

Angela is a nice teacher. She tries to make an interesting class by letting students hear music then, write essays about topic related to music. I personally love that style, you can relax a lot. Although she's always teach in hurry, but it's easy to understand. How can you manage a class in 45 minutes with numerous of stuffs? That's why there is not enough time for her to answer all questions. With each unit, you have a conference which is really helpful. I studied a lot from her. She's great!!!

If you think you should be respected, you should not take Miss Flanagan's class. Once a student forgot to do his homework, she just kicked him out of the class without giving him a chance to explain. She had cancelled two classes in one week without previous notices. Essays weren't not given back on time and her expectation was not clear at all. She gave a very few comments/recommendations, which made me felt a litlle confused on what I should do better on the next essay. Her ability on giving advice during conderences were poor. She often contradicted with herself when she questioned about the changes she told me to make. She didn't believe in improvement. If you didn't do good on your first essay, she believed you should never do a better job than that. We had to do only three essays, three in-class essays, freewrites in class and at home, and lots of summary writings. I felt that it was a "summary" class. Miss Flanagan didn't spend much time on teaching us writing techniques; instead, she liked put us in groups to discuss about the summaries of the readings A LOT. But she never gave clear instructions on how to write a good summary. We just simply did everything on our own. And I have learned absolutely NOTHING from her class. English used to be my favorite subject, but not anymore. Please reconsider if you're to take her class.

She is a very nice person. However,I don't think students can learn alot in her class. Also, I don't think she is a weel organized person because sometimes she didn't give back our essays on time. You won't know how well you've done for your final essay (the last take home essay) untill the last moment which is the final exam day... She spent lots of time on the first unit, and end up with only a few days for the last one. (There are three units in a semester.)

Miss Flanagan is a very organzied person. I have never been in an English class that the material are organized very well. She prepares the material well before class. I have never been bored in her class since she encourages many group discussions. She doesn't give you any stress since her homework is pretty easy. Sometimes you will need to write a Notebook entry, but most of the time, you will only need to write freewrite. During the semester, We have done 3 Notebook entries, 3 take home essays, and 1 in-class midterm. The midterm or the final exam is not tough since she will help you to prepare for them. However, even though she will discuss the articles that we read for the class, you have to think the main point of the articles by yourself. She doesn't tell you what the main point is, she lets to think about yourself. Therefore, sometimes you will feel confused. However, she will be happy to question all your questions. Her grading is fair too. She divides the percentage of the grades in several different aspects. She will also allow you to do an extra credit for the Notebook entry. In conclusion, she's great, if you don't like stressful teacher, you should take her. If you want to learn something, she should take her too.
