Frankel is a bad teacher for Tax Accounting. He's disorganized with his lectures because he goes all over his outline and his exams are very tricky. On the bright side, he has a built-in curve that makes it possible to pass the class if students get 40% overall in his class.

He is not good at teaching the class, which always confused the students. I wonder why SFSU can hire this kind of teacher? Don't take this class even if you are a good learner! I guarantee you will never get a good grade!

Professor Frankel is absolutely horrible. In every lecture, he is very hard to follow because he keeps saying "Ummmm" and "Uhhhhh" a lot. He is very unprepared, only reads aloud the lecture outlines we have to download on Blackboard before class, and enjoys tricking students on his exams. Being in his class was a nightmare. If you are able to find another teacher who teaches business law, I highly suggest you do. You won't learn anything from Frankel.

Lectures completely run on tangents. In almost every example he would change the problem in the middle of the example. Extremely hard to follow. I never felt prepared for the quizzes. He's extremely knowledgeable, but completely unable to focus. Easily sidetracked. Class always felt chaotic and unstructured. If the exams were not open-book, I would have failed. I do not feel at all prepared to have a masters-level discussion on income tax. I can't believe I got a B+.

Ignore the bad comments, Frankel is a riot! He screws up on simple math all the time, he fumbles through his transparancies all class, but he's really fun and compared to most acct 100 profs he's really quite good. If you go to every class and study what he tells you to, there's no way to do bad. Give him a chance cause he'll be a lot easier than most any acct 100 prof.

He is a good professor. There are 2 exams, 10 quizzes and a final. So if you dislike to have many quizzes, don't take this class. However, the quizzes are really helpful. yet they are easy. Study the quizzes and you'll get an A.

I knew that by selecting a teacher who had no reviews on this site was risky, but I had no idea that he'd be as bad as he is. If you have no prior experience in accounting please pick another teacher. This teacher gives his lectures and quizzes as if we are all trained accountants. He goes way too fast and jumps from one topic to the next. His notes are on an over head projector and they are very sloppy. He has this really irritating habit of getting his figures wrong and then crossing out what he just wrote down. When he realizes his mistake, he simply laughes and crosses it out. I don't think it is funny when he does it 50 million times per class. It makes it so hard to take notes. He's not a mean guy - it's just that his attitude makes him seem kinda snobby. He's the only one allowed to make mistakes. As for his quizzes, let me tell you thank god that they don't count for much for the final grade. They are so hard. He sets them up off of the lectures he gives and his lectures are impossible to follow. He gives two big exams and a final. So far I've taken one of the big exams and I think more than half of the class failed. I had to study extra hard just to pass this test! I think if he took more time to prepare his lecture he could do a much better job. Someone needs to tell him to use power point because his writing sucks and he could benefit from the material in front of his face instead of winging the whole thing and confusing the hell out of everbody.
