An easy professor

This professor is easy, reading is light to medium and it is not too hard to get an A, even without attending class all the time. She encourages participation, but does not force anyone to participate. I would say the class is a nice experience.

Easy But Boring

Gehrke is a very nice teacher who really enjoys her subject, but she is extremely boring. Every class meeting she would ask us for our opinion on a subject, and there would be literally a minute of silence, then she would say, "I can wait." But then would proceed to change the subject or answer her own question. We once were suppose to break up into groups, and when she told us to form groups, about 3/4 of the class just walked out the door. The amount reading she assigns is fairly demanding in the beginning of the semester, but it eases up as the semester goes on. You're required to participate in Journal Entries on Blackboard, which can be a pain because Blackboard doesn't always cooperate. You have to have 12 entries by the end of the semester. The quizes are pretty easy. She gives you a study guide about a week in advance with terms that you need to know and a few short essay questions. In the essay questions, she doesn't want any analysis, she just wants you to state sources.

Overall pretty easy class, but don't fall behind on the reading, and the final is cummulative. If you enjoy reading fairy tales, then is a good class. But if you're like me it can be painful at times, but its still pretty easy.

Great teacher!

Great teacher! She's encouraging, open to ideas and understanding. The study guides given for quizzes and exams were very useful. Assigned readings were diverse and interesting. Ms. Gehrke is knowledgeable, helpful and really friendly. If you love to read and usually have an opinion, this is THE class to take. I had a really fun time! Would not hesitate to take another class with Ms. Gehrke.

Good teacher

She is a nice teacher. If you want to enjoy a GE class and have a good grade, take her class! You need spend a little time on writing homework and projects, but you have no pressure on final exam. There are many reading assignments. Most of them are interesting.

"An easy teacher"

If you are looking for an easy A, you have to take Gehrke because her class is so easy. There are three quizzes, a final project, and final at the end of class. Her quizzes are easy to take for she prepares you with a list of questions beforehand so if you do them, you have no problem getting an "A." Likewise for the rest of the quizzes! Her lectures seem to be irrevelant to the class so you don't need to go to class if you don't want to but you have to read her novels or else you are going to be lost! Her final incorporates all your reading together to make a comparison or contrast between two of the four novels you read so really read them! I really recommend her for an easy A but the disadvantage is that her class is really boring that sometimes you have to take notes to keep yourself from falling asleep. She seems pretty nice even though I don't talk to her too much! Overall, her class is fun when I am doing the reading on my own and it's the most easiest class ever!

Good class and teacher

I enjoyed the class very much, and liked Pamela as a teacher very much as well. I suspect that she's a phenomenal teacher in a smaller, more discussion-oriented class - she seemed out of her element in this large lecture class. You should bring your own enthusiasm to this class, because her lectures, while informative, well organized, and interesting, are not very lively. The reading load is fairly heavy, but the books are great. And her exams and even quizzes took many students by surprise - they were though-provoking and just challenging enough that merely reading the books was not enough.
