Georgiou...what a tweeker. He's always taking you through many trips on the magic bus slide shows, but he' really fun. His lectures are very interesting, although i don't remember learning anything about magic and what not. In fact, I don't know why this class is considered a bio class...but hey, it's real easy and fun. His exams are really easy, all you have to do is remember his terms and thats about it. I recommend this his class if you want to learn more about ancient medicine and stuff like that...but i can't stress enough how easy this class is!

This would be an ok class, if it was in the humanities deptartment, it is in no way a science class. The Professor should have squeezed in a microbiology course or two in between all his theology and history courses in his own education. It would make the class so much more interesting. I am a science major, so take this with a grain of salt. If you're a non-science major and want an easy g.e. science class to float through, this is it. but if you want to learn what some of the actual medical implications for ancient healing practices are, this isn't your course. As for Georgiou, he kind of seems like he thinks an awful lot of himself, but he is an ok teacher and has a warm sense of humor...and he hands out snacks in class. The slideshows are sometimes boring, but sometimes its nice to know what these places youre learning about look like.

hmmm...this class was sometimes interesting. actually the topics discussed in class were interesting, mostly weird facts type stuff. most of the time the grounds for his arguments are invalid and don't make sense. georgiou is somewhat an oddball. his jokes are cheesy and entertaining but when you talk to him in person he's kind of cold. boring class, all you do is take notes while he lectures and sometimes look at slides. easy, but taking the nite class was oh so boring.

The main problem with professor Georgiou is his anal personality towards guys. I believe this is because he wants to be the only guy getting the attention from all the ladies in the class. He is nice and courteous with women but when it comes to guys, he acts all "you are not worthy of being in my class". When it comes to the class and tests, they are ok. Now guys be aware that even if you have an A average this guy will lower your score with the excuse that you didn't participate in the class enough or some other similar bullshit. I would recommend the guys to take a different instructor and leave this asshole alone with his "harem dreams" to himself.

This is the best class that I've taken at SFSU! You learn alot of history, and alot of useful everyday applications from the ancients that are still applicable today. Take this class, you will not regret it!

Professor Georgiou is an awesome teacher. He is hilarious, cool and generous! (He gives free cereals every class meeting). His class is interesting, easy and entertaining. Just three 50 m/c exams, no final, no projects. An essay is optional for extra credit if you want to boost up your grade. Overall, this is one of the best way to get one of your GE requirments over with.

This guy is great. He is a man educated in experience, and not books or other people's insight. He is so corny it is absolutely hilarious. Slideshows are beautiful, and it sux that a lot of students leave before them, and is insulting to the teacher. Tests are very detailed, are multiple choice, out of 50, but 40 points or higher is an A, and that saved my ass. Also, if you bomb a test there is an extra credit paper that can also be beneficial. If you want to impress your friends with answers while watching Who Wants to Be a Millionare or Weakest Link, you need to take this one. Did you know that Egyptians used crocodile crap as a spermicide during sexual intercourse? Well I do. Thanks Mr. Georgeou!!

This class is a joke. Mr. Georgiou is personable and an interesting lecturer, but he is disorganized and basically lazy. There is no homework or paper requirement in this class. THAT is the reason students love it. While the material is interesting, it is extremely trivial. The class requires nothing of students other than memorizing a bunch of trivial facts and terms. The class consists of lectures and slide shows of the instructors trips abroad -- it is hardly a college-level course. Mr. Georgiou needs to learn how to use email effectively. He did not show up for one class, and provided no notification to students. This is unacceptable in these days of modern communication technology. Don't expect to learn anything useful from this class. It's all voodoo and nonsense. Mr. Georgiou doesn't even trust modern medicine; his favorite term to reiterate is iatrogenesis. As someone whose life has been saved by modern medicine, I was offended by this attitude. However, if you want an easy class, this is your ticket.

Prof. Georgiou is awesome! He really gets into his subject matter and succeeds in getting his students into it too. He has a great sense of humor and is very generous with free munchies. :) This is the perfect class to take if you have to fulfill any GE Science requirements. The class is fun, entertaining, and by golly, you actually learn something. There are a few exams but nothing too major. Try to keep up with the reading but even if you don't, it's not a big deal because he gives great lectures and he pulls the info. for his exams from his lectures and the required reader. It's a pretty low maintenance class.

i had Professor Georgiou's class about two years ago, and i still remember it vividly. This professor is everything a university environment should be--he was incredibly friendly with the class, and while he is incredibly cultured (he has been to every country possible), and knowledgable, he never came off as pretentious or rude. He was incredibly interested in the topic--and i would actually leave feeling enlightened. After each lecture which was humourous, informative, and fascinating, Georgiou would show us hilarious slide shows of where he had been--and spiced them up with lots of humour. He took the time to make sure we were learning more than just what the standard test dictates. His tests were incredibly fair, and while studying, the material was so fascinating, i never felt as if i was "studying". He is one of the best professors this school has to offer, and EVERYONE should take this class--even if not for a grade, or credit. He actually took the time out of 200 students, to get to know a few of them. Honestly, the best class at SF State--incredible, rich lectures, intriguiing slide shows, and a professor who loved the topic and really seemed to love teaching.

Professor Georgiou taught an interesting and very entertaining class. His knowledge of archeology, Biology, and mythology is incredible and he has a brilliant sense of humor. His jokes kept the class interesting (very funny slide-shows) and the material was challenging but not overwhelming. Only a reader was assigned and most of the tests were based on the lectures. I found myself looking foward to attending this class, and I talked to the teacher several times after class purely out of my own interest in the subject matter. There was no homework, only several exams. Very rarely does SFSU get a professor of this quality.

Bio 321 is an information-dense class, but easy to do well in if you attend lectures and take notes. Prof. Georgiou is friendly, attentive and engaging both after class and as a lecturer. He tests fairly: the study guide is not too priceey, and has all the terms to study for the tests and (non-cumulative) final. He has a goofy sense of humor, a real plus when viewing slide shows. I worked to get an 'A,' but i didn't lose any sleep or spend hours and hours doing it. It's a lecture, not discussion oriented class, due to the high volume of information covered. It's mostly very intereting, and I enjoyed it.

I took this class a few semesters ago but since it is rare to find faculty at SFSU that don't put you to sleep, I had to take the time to recommend this class. In addition to the class being interesting, Professor Georgiou is friendly and always takes the time to talk to you if you need to talk.
