Just finished her CWL 250 class this semester and I Can say that she is a good teacher. The class itself is probably easy so that could've helped a lot. We had 4 books, 3 quizes (best 2), 12 group journal entries (write about any BS) midterm and final, all the test she made study guides for and the study guides were replicas of the test. The books weren't hard to read, and infact you probably only needed to read the books that related to the question on the study guide.
As far as personality she is decent, she teaches in a lecture hall so you don't get face to face with her. Homework is reading, great teacher and class.

Dr. Gherke is great. She is friendly and will add everyone who wants to add into her class. Though her class scared me with the 6 required books, they weren't so bad and not expensive at all. Her grading consists of 8 journal entries about anything you want to talk about, 4 essays (2 pg each), a final analytical paper (6 pages), and a group project on what you've discussed that semester. There are no finals nor exam in that class. I guess the analytical paper would be like your final. She barely takes roll call until probably near the end cause my class dropped from 40 people attending to about 16 people present though everyone was still enrolled. We get points for attendance and participation so she did roll just to be fair to the people who are there though I see people arrive half an hour into the class and then leave early! Anyways she only teaches part time so she only has 1 or 2 classes per semester. Get her while you can!!!
