Janet Goldberg FINALLY taught me how to write a proper, college level essay!!
The class is not easy--you can't just slack off and expect to get a decent grade. Although the work was really demanding (about six 3-5 page essays total), I am lucky to have gotten Janet as a professor. If I had not taken her BUS 214 class, I don't think I would have ever passed JEPET!
As stated before, there are about six essays total--all ranging between 3-5 pages. After the completion of one essay, another is usually assigned a week later. There is also a required journal with a certain number of entries and only one book reading--"The Death of a Salesman."
Janet is extremely knowledgable in essay writing, sentence structure, grammar, etc. She is friendly, and fair. If you really want to learn how to write an essay, take this class!! If you don't, take Susan Connell.

Janet is good teacher. She's clear and concise when giving instructions. She's also very helpful and quite nice when you ask her questions regarding assignments. Expect to bust your a** if you decide to take BUS 214 with Janet. She's a very hard grader, but she seems fair. I would definitely suggest starting your essays at least a week before it is due. She's not one to hand out good grades. Students have to really work for it.
As for the breakdown of grades, if I recall correctly (it's been 2 years since I took BUS 214 with her), she gave equal weight to all of the writing assignments. An essay was due each week. She also had us write in our journals for 15 minutes about any topic we want. This got a little boring. She asked us to read only one novel, and it happened to be a very short one--Death of a Salesman. Our final was to write a 5-page essay.
My advice to her current students is to make sure you put enough time and effort on all the writing assignments. Make sure you check for spelling and grammar errors, because these reflect the grade she gives you. Oh and make sure that all papers are turned in ON TIME. If you follow all of these, you should do well in her class.
Good luck!
