He's funny and very entertaining. I really enjoyed his class.

As the course turned out, it wasn't so intimidating after all. Although "Business Law" is a difficult subject, Mr. Halpern makes the subject interesting and comprehensible. Though he doesn't write much on the board, his lectures are clear with illustrative examples and shouldn't be a problem if you have good note-taking skills. The course grade was based on a quiz, midterm, and a final exam which was not comprehensive. The questions were a combination of multiple choice and essay type, and his grading is pretty objective. However, his exams are strongly based on the lecture material and so, attendence is mandatory. But overall, he is recommendable and it was a pleasure to be in his class. Unfortunately, he is retiring and for now, will not be back.

If you want to learn then Mr. Halpern is a great teacher. Go to every class and you'll do fine on the exam. if you are looking for an easy A, however, this is not the class.

Mr. Halpern speaks clearly and explains a subject logically and clearly. He also asks for class participation and gives you many chances to ask questions in class. But as other reviewers said, he seldom writes on the board and gives no handouts. His exams are also very hard.
For the first multiple choice exam, I did not ask for previous exam papers and I missed one tricky question. Then I realized that if only I had access to those, I would have a greater advantage. So for the midterm, I studied past papers and it helped a lot. But I do not agree that it is cheating on a student's part. If there is a problem, it is with teachers who recycle past papers too soon or too frequently. I do not feel guilty about studying past exam papers! What is wrong with that?
His class is really demanding but you can get personal tutoring if you see him during office hours.
In order to succeed in his class, you need to have excellent note-taking skills and can write really fast in exams cause he asks for 5 or 6 essays in 2 hours.

I don't know what it was about the class that I didn't like. Maybe it was the 8AM class time. The professor seemed cool enough. The tests were a bit cryptic. Often students would be left shaking their heads when they saw their grades. If you take him attend all classes and you should be okay.

A very hard teacher. He rarely writes on the board with no visual aids. Law is a very complicated subject, yet he chooses to do nothing but pure lecture. There is no homework. No handouts. But his test are one of the hardests test I have ever taken in my academic career. The only reason the other students were able to pass his tests were b/c they had exams from prior semesters (I saw them all reading and exchanging these test before exams). If you are smart, you will try to make the same connections with other classmates. I used everything from taperecorders to study groups. Stupid me, I should have cheated like the rest of them!!!
