Laird Harrison

Laird is currently a freelance writer and obviously not an instructor. This was a summer session course, so thank goodness classes were only twice a week for us. The assignments weren't too hard and I enjoyed some of them, like the profile and review. My classmates and I constantly complained about how we would modify our writing styles to fit Laird's expectations. Our class sessions also seemed like a waste because Laird obviously did not know what to do with the time. He would send us off for about 30-45 minutes to do some writing exercises. It was fine with us, because that gave us some free time, but I'm sure we would all rather be at home during that time. He would also have everyone read their articles aloud. We didn't mind helping each other, but we often share ideas outside of class. We could have used that class time doing something else, as well. My favorite part of the class was the guest speakers. Unfortunately, that has nothing to do with Laird's performance as a teacher...except that he did a good job choosing speakers.
