Unfortuanately, David Heckenlively doesn't teach at SFSU at a full-time basis anymore (he'll teach Summer and Winter courses). He retired:( ! I would have loved to have taken him in other courses he offered but I was slow to the finish line. When Dave taught he was entertaining yet informative about the subject. He visualized about passed experiences in the PR World. There were two tests (Mid-term & Final)! Based on the book and lectures, but 70% was based on the lectures. There was no homework except 2 individual presentations. The first presentation is based on an assigned reading. It's a particular issue that arises in a business world setting. The last presentation is based on YOU selling a product or an issue. Both presentations were great learning tools on your own communication skills. I feel that he was an easy grader when it came to presentations. Dave was easy to understand! The text that he used, SUCKED, it could put insomniac to sleep for days and was useless except for the Case Study for the presentation. Overall, I think Dave was great I wish I could've taken other courses with him, but there's always winter.

Dave, as he likes to be called, does well in his organization and is well prepared for class. I learned a good deal from his class. He makes you read the entire book, but text book questions only account for 30% of the tests. His fall from grace is how his tests are put together. Beware! His tests are mainly from his lectures and some of the info is in direct conflict with the book. I've personally experienced and seen a refusal to give credit to question that was in the text, but at odds with his lecture. There are only 25 questions in his midterms, so if you miss a few multiple choice questions, you're down one whole grade. His demeanor is friendly, but beware!
