The best teacher at sf state

I took proffesor Hefter for accounting 301 and 302 and have enjoyed both off the classes. His lectures will stimulate your learning. He always tryes to stimulate you so you can be able to apply your knowledge once you finish school. He is always availableto help - he is there for you. You know you are not waisting your money when you take his class. He has a great personality and energy. I have to say if I could I would love to work for a guy like that. His lectures are easy to follow and if you study hard you should get an A, but you do have to study hard because he does expect a lot from you but you will in return learn a lot. His test a hard to be prepared - do your homework and make sure you understand. I wish there was more teachers like him the whole process of getting education would more enjoyable.

The Best Instructor

I took professor Hefter because his reviews said that he was an excellent instructor. After taking his Accounting 301 class, I have to say that he is by far the best SFSU instructor I ever experienced. If you are looking for an easy class this not the class for you. However, if you are serious about learning intermediate financial accounting, Hefter is the instructor you want to take.

Throughout the semester, I felt that Hefter pushed us and encouraged us to learn, and not to worry as much about the mechanics, but instead, to concentrate on the basic concepts of the issues at hand. He basicaly teaches you to learn and not pass a class.

Hefter's availability is amazing, I don't understand how he does it. He is available all the time and if you need him after the end of class, he is more than willing to stay and help you as long you need him to.

His exams are long and they test your knowledge, as he puts it, his tests force you to take the material learned, one step further.

In his lectures, professor Hefter gives advise based on his real professional experience and most of his advises were applicable to my current job and profession. This was an added bonus to his clear lectures.

Great

He is clear in his lecture delivery. You know what is expected of you in the class. The questions on the exams are straightfoward. This class can be a challenge but Hefter is there to help! He is always available outside of class if you need him. He even gives you his home telephone number! His exams are a bit on the difficult side, but with a bit of work, you should do well in the course.

OK if you like to torcher yourself

I took Mr.Hefter because his reviews on this site were high but I took him during the summer and it was either him or the course. I would fall asleep in class. The exams were brutal, they were half an inch thick, they were part M/C (which were extremely tricky) and part subjective (in other words you had to write about a particular thing). There's only two exams (the first one took me 2 1/2 hours, and the other 3 1/2 hours): the book is pretty good and you could pretty much forgo the lectures. He was very nice and helpful when trying to explain things but I just didn't feel I learned much.

He is a motivator!

He has extensive professional experience in accounting as well as in teaching. He emphasizes a lot on case analysis, discussions and projects. He also promotes creativity and freedom of speech. Students who like discussion, analysis, & research should join this class. He is also very open-minded and very good at giving guidance as to research, studies and projects.

Simply the Best!

What a great teacher in SFSU! I can't say more about the great experience I have in this class. Not only have I earned a good mark but also I do learn a lot of things which can be applied to the real business practices. That is what every MBA student want from the program. The lecture is well organized and he clarifies the concepts very clearly. I can't expect more from this class.

One of the best!

Professor Hefter is a great instructor and a very nice person. He creates a very good learning environment by encouraging questions and discussion. He has an agenda for each class and a study guide for each test that covers everything on the test. His two written assignments are very interesting and he allows students to interpret different accounting concepts and practices and he is open to those interpretations even if he doesn't agree.

I recommend him for any accounting course. I wish he taught some day classes so I could take more of his sections.

Professor William Hefter is a great teacher. If you would really like to learn accounting information systems, take his class. Other instructors I have tried simply doesn't teach but only talking things like his personal life. His office hours are accessible and friendly to students' questions.
