Krista Hiser

Krista is quite possibly my favorite professor here. I had her a few semesters ago and she still sticks out in my mind as being utterly exceptional. She throws all her energy and personality into the course and pulls you in with her. She was born to teach. She was one of the few teachers I've had to really put effort into helping me fine tune my writing. She looked at everyone individually and adjusted her expectations/advice based one what level you were at. There wasn't a person in that class who didn't leave a better writer. I tried looking her up this semester and couldn't find her. I can only pray she's still around and will pop up soon because I really want to take another of her classes.

KRISTA HISER IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TEACHERS AT SFSU! I CAN ONLY SAY THAT SHE IS A TEACHER THAT CARES AND UNDERSTANDS THE STUDENTS. SHE IS VERY SWEET AND HAS A PASSION FOR TEACHING. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING HER AS YOUR FIRST COMPOSITION COURSE. SHE CHALLENGES YOU AND SHE ALSO HELPS YOU IN ANY WAY SO THAT YOU CAN SUCCEED IN WRITING. I LOVE HER PAPER REVIEWS ON TAPE AND IT HELPS ALOT TO THE STUDENTS AS WELL. ONE OF THE BEST COMPOSITION TEACHERS AT SFSU! WE NEED MORE OF KRISTA HISER AT SFSU.

Krista's one of the best English teachers here at SFSU. I know I F---ed up on my JPET but it was worth it to take Krista as a teacher. She's so outgoing. You don't need any books for her class, just a $10 reader. She'll make you write several papers and she'll grade them and help you in the revision process. However, you final grade is based on a portfolio consisting of your best 4 papers picked by you. She's leanient on your grammar mistakes so long as you tell her in your memos. Most of my essays were last minutes and I never revised my 4th essay I turned in with the portfolio! She also has office hours which you can set up to discuss your papers and how to make it better. Another offer she made was that if you can show her how wonderful your writing skills are after 3 papers than she'll pass you without having to go further with the class! Now what other teachers do you know lets you do that? She also lets you extend the deadlines for your papers as long as you tell her that you need more time. If I had had her for ENG214, I wouldn't need to take 414. Oh yeah, one more thing, she also offers a final JPET in which you can take and help your grade if you passed or just doodle in the blue book and not take it. The test only serves to better your grade not hinder it!
