I am tounge-tied trying to describe the profound effect Professor Josephson had on me this semester. I was so inspired by this class... she made me remember why I became a Lit. major. I can't add too much more to what has already been said about her, just that she is by far the best professor I have ever had.

I think Professor Josephson is a great teacher. I was a little worried about Victorian Literature; its dense and a little uptight. But all it takes is a good teacher to really open your eyes to the beauty of the works, and Josephson does so with gusto. She told the class that this was her favorite period and it shows. She knew many historical details, not just about the authors but also the culture as well.
She assigned a text book from which we read excerpts and poems, and we read two full novels: Great Expectations by Dickens and Middlemarch by George Eliot. Despite the Eliot book, which was 500 pages, the readings werent too heavy. She carried us through the work and made interesting points all followed by her characteristic, Hmmm as in dont you agree?
Her grading was fair and you could feel her joy of discussing literature come through her comments as compared to some teachers crabbiness or just plain snootiness. Her comments are also funny, another thing that is missing from a lot of professors comments. I cant recommend Ms. Josephson enough. Of course, this is for people who love literature, read all assigned materials and participate in class. If youre a goof off, I would take someone else, or even drop out of school all together.

One of the professor at SFSU in my opinion. One of the best if the English Dept acutally. This professor is awsome! She is VERY KIND, nice, and patient. She gaves students plenty of time to do their essays and she gives every student the chance to pass her class. She work that she demands is very resonable. Her class lecture were great and informing. Overall, ther class was a pleasure to attend to. Keep up the good work professor Josephson!

She is one of the nicest teachers that you will take at SFSU! Professor Josephson is very understanding and actually cares about her students and it really shows. The class is extremely easy to keep up with (even if you are behind in the readings), and she forces the class to have active discussions on the readings. When it comes to her essays, she is very gracious on her grading and will let you make corrections to improve your grade. Overall, this is a great class, and it usually attracts quality but fun people. Have a blast!

Prof. Josephson is an extremely likable person. She is extremely friendly and caring. However, this class had many students in it that were at different levels. Some students hadn't taken JEPET yet. THis made it difficult for her to challenge the students who were at higher levels. This is not completely her fault, however I found this class very unchallenging and therefore boring.

Professor Josephson taught me alot about the nature of writing.Furthermore, she's the only teacher on campus that actually teaches you something that can be applied to all field of your studies. Her teaching style is easy to absorbed and her readings are interesting. Overall, if you plan to take ENG214 or 414..take her.

Not only is she one of the best instructors I've ever had but she is probably the cutest...she has a tremendous amount of little "catch phrases" and mannerisms which make her class a lot of fun. She is an incredibly hard grader, however, but overall fair. I highly recommend this instructor to anyone taking a class from the English department.

This teacher is awesome! She's sweet, attentive..got her own lil'quirks and sometimes a bit of attitude, but that's what makes her so cool! Sure she's tough and makes you work hard on your english papers, but man, ain't that what we're here in this place to learn anyways? To have a clearer understanding of the world around us after we leave than before we came...and ultimately to become better people? She's an awesome teacher...take her class!!!

Ms. Josephson is the best English instructor I have ever had. I was intimidated when I enrolled in this Shakespeare class, but Josephson explained it all in such a way even I could understand it. She is VERY open to ALL opinions, which is a very nice change for instructors here at the SFSU English Department. She has you write 3 papers, and as long as you edit them well - that means you can't turn in your first draft and expect an A - you will be just fine. Also, she is very personable - an added plus.

I enjoyed this course very much and think Ms. Josephson did a fine job.She is very enthuiastic about teaching English. I especially like the fact that much of the class was taken up in class discussions of the stories we read.Everyone had the chance to express their opinions.
You should be aware that she is a tough grader and you will have to do 3 major papers for her. However, since I did so well on the first two, she waived the third one. Cool!
