Knows the Material

Professor Jung knows Fin. 350 really well, but when it comes to the exams his lectures don't help. I found myself taking the mini quizes over and over again following the answer guide to learn the class. Going to class was useless, it's better to just read the book yourself and learn it. The book is needed for sure.

Very bad teacher

Alan Jung is a strange teacher. He gave cases and homeworks about topics we would cover next week, so we had to learn what we're doing before starting the case and then he would show it in the class. This is a teaching style I don't understand.

The Final: It was terrible. He asked 4 case-type questions where none of them has ever been given in the class as an example. We couldn't figure out what to do and tried to write everything we knew.

So the final was VERY tough. If I had the chance I would definetly go to Messina's class because he is far better than Alan Jung. I didn't enjoy this teachers class. I didn't get what I deserved in return of my hard work throughout the semester and I regret choosing him for FIN 819. Trust me you will regret too if you choose him.

A helpful Class

Dr. Jung did a nice job teaching Fin 819 class. Even though some students said that his class is tough, students can really learn LOTS of things from this course.

Cases and homeworks are not easy, but are not very difficult either. However, those assignments do require many hours hard working and teanm works. If you show your efforts, he generally will give you resonable grades.

Final exam is VERY tough though. It includes four mini-cases from four main topics covered in Fin 819 course. Students usually do not (or barely)have time to finish all of the questions, but it also depends on how well you understand the material. During the final exam, you do not really have much time to diagnose or analyse the problems.

My suggestion is that you should at least spend 8-10 hours per week for this course ( I spent about 13 hours as a foreign student) id you want your grade to be at least A-. Good luck, and enjoy his class.
