Take this teacher

I have taken several classes with Dr. King and have found him to be a fair teacher. His exams are not unusally hard due to the fact that he gives you the questions prior to the test and allows you to bring one sheet of notes to the exam. If you can not pass this class, you do not belong in college.

Great Teacher!

Dr. King is a great teacher! He's very humurous and very enthusiastic with the class which makes it very interesting to attend. He's lectures are great, very detailed and lots of understandable examples. He was one of those teachers that just clicked for me. I did terrible in Econ 100, but when I took Dr. King, everything suddenly clicked. He is a definitely a great teacher.

A very good instructor

Dr. King is an energetic teacher whose sense of humor makes a normally boring subject interesting. I found his lectures very fun to attend. I took good notes, and didn't have to hit the text too much. He is very approachable, and very interested in everyone getting the most out of the class. I didn't need tutoring, but as an evening student, I really appreciated that he arranged special tutoring sessions for the whole class.

There are two midterms, each contributing 25% to the final grade. The tests include a T/F section, a short answer section, and a problem/essay section. The thing about the T/F part is that questions answered with 'false' must include an explanation (i.e. false because...). The first test was graded on a linear scale (A=>90%); the second was graded on a fairly generous curve (A=>82%).

The final is in the same format as the midterms, but is longer, and contributes 40% to the final grade. The remaining 10% comes from class participation. He does not call roll, nor is attendance mandatory; however, without participating in class, you will have to get perfect scores in the tests to get a final grade of A.

It is time to improve the quality of the education

The ECON 100 class is an EXTREMELY easy class. If you have read anything at all about keynesian theories and classical theories you should already know everything exept perhaps some formulas. In other countries professors would be laughing if told about this class and ask if it was necessary to do juniorhigh twice.

Dr King does not help approving this picture. He does in fact over and over skip over important parts. The exam was a laughter. You could go to the exam without having read the book. All you have to do is to show up at the lessons and listen and you'll be fine. One of the largest failures with this class is that there is no or very little analyzing of what you are learning. You are not asked to do any reading at home except the book which is exactly the same as the class.

Through his lectures, it was obvious that he's very knowledgeable of the subject. More importantly, he did a very good job at conveying the concepts to his students. He does have a sense of humor which made the lectures bearable, considering the subject itself is so boring. We had two midterms and a final, and he gave us study guides before each exam which were very helpful.

Prof. King is an very good teacher. He explains and simplifies concepts very well and you'll learn a lot if you take his class. I also found myself more interested in the subject than I thought i would be. Apparently the other students did as well because alot of them would hang around after class to talk to him, and not just about the class in particular but about economics because he's so knowledgable and interesting. What I didn't understand was how he graded. No matter what I did I always ended up with a B. I took the class with a friend and we studied together for every test. On one test our answers had basically the same relevant points yet he ended up with an A on the test. When I looked over some of the other tests, I found some that were clearly as good as or better than mine yet they also got B's. It just seemed like he gave you a B if your work was anywhere between C+ or A+ work and out of this group he would randomly throw in a couple of A's. Even so, I would still recommend him to any student because of his outstanding teaching ability.

He appears to know the material very well; however, his teaching style is less commendable. I found his class to be VERY boring, as I dredded showing up every week. At least he is generous with the grades. I'm unsure of the criterion in which he uses to grade his tests--he doesn't comment on your essay exam, he just assigns a grade. Most of the people in my class were limited in English (meaning it was difficult to even hold a conversation with most of them), but still managed to get a B on their essay exams...hmmm makes me wonder...

Prof. King is a very organized and committed Professor who made the course both interesting and comprehendible. With his dry sense of humor, and excellent teaching skills, he made sure that the subject-matter was getting across. Always willing to make time for his students, his teaching was structured, and he encouraged class participation. The course had 2 exams, a presentation, and paper, all of which helped me gain an insight into aspects of developmental economics, various economic models, international economics and concerns faced by Third World countries.
