I just read some of the other reviews of Mr. Lang and I don't feel they are fair. That is why I am posting this one, because although I also found Mr. Lang to be strict, he is also an instructor with high standards. He always seems to try new approaches to help the student understand what he is presenting. In my experience He would also treat the students with respect and patience if they were not screwing around! Too often I've noticed my fellow classmates wanting to slide by and expect everything will be handed to them. It seems to me if you are going to college you need to take it seriously and do the best job you can or you are wasting everybody's time. Maybe I just get Mr. Lang's sense of humor better then some other people.

Mr. Lang is very strict. He will not allow you much room for error yet he is there to teach you! It is his job to teach but he expects the student to be perfect. That is not possible because we are still learning. He seems to be understanding, but he really is not. He's the classic evil teacher who will not give you a break. I would not reccommend him for any class.

There are much better teachers than this guy. Im not saying that because I received a bad grade..because I didn't. He gives out homework every class which is useless. Your grade is based on 5 essays, 1 which is in class. The last one counts the most out of the prior essays and I feel that is pretty ludacris. He asks for a lot and is very anal about your paper headings/format, so be careful if you take him. I worked pretty hard in this class and I received a good grade due to the last paper, not a "great" one, so you can guess what I got. Hes an average teacher at best, I did not learn anything new or interesting. I hope that helps.

Mr Lang is a pretty nice guy but he has high expectations. There are 5 essays and they are sort of hard depending on how good of an writer you are. He grades to the SFSU standards, bascially he'll grade every essay like he's grading the JEPET. But he writes on another paper telling you how to improve. He likes to tell jokes and offers extra credit for anyone who tells a joke. And he will write it down to use later on, lol. Sometimes the class can get boring cause he likes to talk. You can't miss more than 5 days or you will be failed. The final was an in class essay ala JEPET style.

A teacher that loves to hear your opinions and does fully respect them. Their are five essays that seem pretty hard, but once you do them your ok. He has a sense of humor and teaches with dicussion rather then lecturing.

Tony Lang isn't a good teacher. He presumes to think that if you come into class with a positive attitude that you aren't taking this class seriously. He is quoted at saying "college isn't supposed to be fun". He finds everything you do to be disruptive to class. Of course in order to pass his class you must follow all of his rules, guidelines and anything else he mentions. He is incredibly anal about all of that. He thinks that if you don't follow these instructions when writing your essay you aren't a good writer. Honestly I wouldn't take him again as a teacher. He just isn't on the same page as his students. I did not have a good experience with him at a teacher.
