A Cool White Chick

I took her class way back in the FALL 97, my first semester in college. It has taken me a while to finally write a review for Diana (has it been 4 years already?). Because I had forgotten her name, and when I saw the reviews for Diana, I suddenly realized I had taken her class before.

Lesse..from what I remember, she has a great personality, and really encourages her students to do their best. Before I took her class or before I entered college, I was always afriad to speak out in public. With Diana's help, I have no problem at all to speak in front of any strangers.

I remember her syllabus was to present 4 main speeches in front of the class (duh..). One of them has to be with a group of 4-5 people. The group project sucks because I had partners who did a poor job with our assignments. But anyways, I think the 3 other individual presentations was to present anything you want that relates to her topic or assignment.

One topic was to argue about any issue of pro vs con. Like abortion right, or death penalty, etc. I remember one presentation I did about building a new football stadium for the 49ers. (Remember that issue back in 97?) I basically list the pros about my issue and tried to counter-attack the cons. That was the last major presentation, and I got an "A" for it...

She can be kind of picky about your outlines. You HAVE to write an outline for your speeches. But at least you can sorta of read off of it (if you copy it to a 3x5 card). The homework, from what I remember, had like 2-3 assignments. I forget what it was, but I know I skip one of em, which knocked off 1/2 grade for the semester. Ouch...

There was also a textbook required for this class, but I never used it one bit. So I suggest ignoring the textbook and save your money. Also, with today's technology, I sure that most Speech classes requires the use of PowerPoint presentations.

That's all I can remember.... I did get a "C" for the semester because I was partying and fooling around too much during my first semester of college... It's a good thing I got an "A" on that last presentation...

DIANA IS AWESOME!

DIANA...what a woman, she is such a great teacher. From Day one, I knew that the class would be fun because her upbeat personality made a highly good first impression. Her lectures are very thorough, and for those of you who don't know how to take notes, you'll learn from this class, because you'll just want to write down all of the information that she gives you. I personally like this class because she intertwined how we would be using the skills we learned from her speech class with our everyday lives. Her homework assignments were easy, never more than just reading and writing down a few answers. Her tests were very self explanatory and always stuck to the material that she previously covered prior to exam date. Overall Diana is a grea teacher and I would definately reccomend her to anyone who wants to take a speech class. =)
