I am a bit sore about this professor. Her grading scale/curve is too low in order to weed out the non performers from those who actually try. She actually lowered her grading scale to accomodate those with very low test scores--79% became a B+. She is a nice person and is genuinely intelligent. However, the classroom atmosphere is quite disorganized and unruly.
Her exams are based on multiple choice, which is a bit tricky and problem sets, which are easier. This semester she accomodated the low test scorers by allowing them to take a retest in order to boost their grades. It's easy to cheat in this class. I saw a couple of people cheating away even though the professor allows a one page cheat sheet. She does not look.
Her lectures are a combination of interesting and boring. I believe her lectures are more interesting than other Finance professors I have had. But, she did make some mistakes when explaining things--perhaps on account of the horrid book we used as a guideline in learning. The book is not very well written, although I have read worse.
Her projects are somewhat challenging, but she is not clear about what she wants at all. She must become more organized in this area or you as the student must bombard her with questions in order to fully understand what she wants.
Overall the class was okay. I learned some things--mostly from the textbook and cross referencing with my other finance textbooks--as I said before, this book is not very well written. Professor Leung is nice, but not strict enough and seems to only want to help those with low test scores. So if you want an easy A, you would probably want to take her. She lowers the curve so much that any subpar student can get a A or B. I studied my ass off and got an A, but others who cheated and were free riders got A's too and that pisses me off.
Overall, I learned some things, but not as much as I wanted to. I needed more real world examples--she lectured straight from the book usually.

Carol Leung is an average teacher. It was her first semester teaching so she let her students decide many things. Her lectures are OK, not too interesting and the class could have been approached from a different angle. The book was awful which is not her fault and all we learned about was mathematical calculations about how to estimate instrinsic value of a company and we also dealt with CAPM. We could have been learning about real world applications of equites and not CAPM. Her tests consist of two parts. 50% multiple choice which was very tricky and difficult and 50% problems wich were extremely easy. The grading scale was generous as an A- was 80%. The project was a financial analysis of a company and was almost an automatic A. Overall, the class was not to difficult but also I did not learn what I wanted to learn.

It was Carol Leung's first semester in SFSU, and she did a very good job of teaching it. Her exams were almost the same as homework, and she allowed 1 page of notes on the exam, which helped a lot. She dropped the lowest of 3 exams, so it gave me a chance to improve my overall grade. Her grading scale is very good: A- starts with 80%, B- with 70%, and so on. If you study her excellent Power Point slides that you download from her website, bring a sheet of good notes, and do assigned homework, you can easily get A-. I highly recommend taking her.

She is a nice lady, but needs to get more organized. Leung reads directly from her ppt. slides, and it often seems as if she is reading them for the first time. I took her in her first semester at SF State and I think that she will get better as she teaches more classes. Her exams come straight from the homework. Instead of making Investments overly complicated, Leung explains matters in plain language. She seems genuinely interested in her subject, and most importantly, interested in teaching her students.

To all finance majors, Professor Leung is the best teacher for Fin.355. She's extremely nice and good hearted teacher. She's concerned with her students overall grade. And, she's very humble to answer any questions with the lectures in class. So, whoever will take her fin.355 class, good for you!:)She's one of the best teacher here in SFSU.
