Eileen Mahoney

I'm not sure if the people posting previously had the same Mahoney as I because I found her extremely lacking in teaching skills. Her lectures were practically nonexistent. She was allowing her students to cheat. Her homework assignments did not enhance learning. She is a really fun person though. She provided much amusement. Just not education.

So sometimes she's not too organized, makes me feel better about my life. Otherwise she is OUTSTANDING! She gives a damn, lets you know it, if you don't it saddens her. She is a GREAT teacher, would never trade in my BECA 300 experience. She makes a normally annoying class seem fun and entertaining. If you work she'll reward. If your a jerk she won't take it. It's nice to see a teacher call jerks out on their behavior, it's rude to be rude and she lets you know that.

Mahoney is great, she definitely knows what's going on in the broadcast field... There are some things you should know. I would definitely say that she is rather unorganized. I wouldn't say that it effects her ability to teach, however if you have a logistical problem (IE missed a test, have to turn in a paper late) this can be a problem. Her test wording is DEFINITELY tricky read carefully !!!!!

Dr. Mahoney is a professor who is obviously very knowledgeable about her subject. She has an excellent voice to her, she is witty, and she definitely grabs the attention of her students when she lectures. Her exams are not easy which means you should spend time reading the bold in the book before the exams. However, she is really good about preparing you for the exams. Her class consist of 4 exams and a paper. She is by all means a very good professor. The only reason I give her an A- instead of a pure A is because I see so much more potential within her however, something is holding her back from reaching her GREATEST potential. Maybe it's her organizational skills or maybe it's...? I don't know but whatever it is Dr. Mahoney, you have the power to find it within and fix it. PS. You really are an excellent teacher.

That's not true...she doesn't call you out and ask you to leave if you yawn...she just says "no yawning" and continues with her lecture. She is fun to listen to and helps you out as much as she can with tests and papers. She is never boring...p.s. i had her for BECA 422 Social aspects in electronic media but i can't figure out how to fix this thing to change that :P

Mahoney is great... her class is based on 4 tests and so far i've taken 2....they're pretty straight forward. it's basically her lecture: no surprises! but i read all the chapters to boost my score.

she's helpful and reasonable. i recommend her!!!!!

Although Mahoney is very entertaining and easy to listen to...the catch is that she is scatter-brained. She is not organized whatsoever and will often not even show up to class, or make you wait an hour before she does. The lectures are interesting and her knowledge on the subject clearly comes across. But I can't help but find myself somewhat annoyed and aggravated by her lack of responsibility. Anyone who has taken a class with her knows exactly what I mean. More than likely, you will show up to class more than she will. And you'll also be better prepared than she will be. Good luck to any future Mahoney students!

Mahoney is a great teacher. I don’t want to say the class is easy because it’s really not, but Mahoney just gets everyone so involved and excited that it becomes a breeze. She is very knowledgeable of her field and has many interesting insights. She is funny and has witty comment about almost everything in the media. Unlike some professors I’ve had, Mahoney is easy to approach and she makes it a priority to meet with her students and assist them with their projects. Slackers BEWARE!!! She doesn’t like people that yawn in class. If she catches you yawning, she will call you out and ask you to leave. She really wants everyone to be interested in the class.
