Better Work!

At first, he taught slowly but after a few weeks, he sped up like wildfire. He gave numerous amounts of homework near the end of the symmester, such that it would be impossible to finish them unless if you're a programming genius or not taking a full load of classes. He also gave challenging program projects concurrently with the homework. On to the redeeming side, he always replies quickly to your email and is never reluctant to help students during his office hours. He also makes an earnest effort in trying to explain the materials well. Overall, if he ever teaches again, be prepared to spend a lot of time studying and avoid having a full class schedule.

Excellent Teacher

I am so sorry to hear that he won't teach anymore. He is a great teacher if comparing with other cs prof. His lecture is clearly enough to you to understand that material if you do all the things he required you to do. This course is really need you to put some time to deal with especially you have no program experience, what does it mean? that means if you can not pass his course, then it is your fault. He is a great teacher taht always willing to help. if you don't understand, then go to his office. He never made his students feel stupid, he can explain that problem to you over 1 hour if you still can not get it. Projects are hard, but you can learn a lot by doing so. Exams are resonable hard, but not that kind of difficult. if he still wants to teach, then take his class. You will learn a lot from him. That will be pretty good for your future cs courses.

The intro class, no big complaints

I don't know what his deal is -- whether he's going to teach in the future or not. In the Intro to Programming C++ class he knew the material very well and could give examples of how things are done in the industry. All the tests were reasonable, but he didn't keep with the same style: all of a sudden there were true and false and multiple choice on the final, requiring that you learned different aspects of the material, when you'd never seen this or been held resonsible for it before in his class. I believe he changed his grading procedure from the syllabus and weighed the projects more heavily. He gave plenty of opportunity to earn extra credit. If you had a question, you could e-mail him and he'd get right back to you. Knowledgeable and helpful. I think this was his first time teaching the course, if he taught it again he'd probably be sharper, though he did a very good job to start with. In reading reviews of other teachers in other classes, you can go wrong with several of them, with this guy you should be okay.

Excellent.

Mr. Mash is awesome. Unfortunately, he will not be teaching any time soon again for his own reasons. So, I will review the class. The class can be difficult if you do not spend 15-20 hours a week doing the homework assignments from Deitel & Deitel (the text). The textbook is VERY GOOD at explaining things for the most part. The material will start out a little easy, but after chapter four, when the topics get into strings, pointers, classes, and file i/o, the class will ZOOM BY you. So, hint: play keep up, not catch up. Make sure you get a good teacher because this is a basic building block class and it's important that you understand everything from here on out!
