Dr. Mason is an engaging speaker who uses stories to illustrate his points, and obviously loves teaching. He is easy to understand and follow, even for students never before exposed to economic theory, and makes learning basic economics fun and easy.
Dr. Mason is helpful in the note taking process by putting all important points on the board, and demonstrating the use of graphs as a method of understanding economics.
Dr. Mason always begins each lecture by reviewing the main points of the previous lecture, thus keeping the entire class up to date and "on the same page".
Dr. Mason provides review sheets, which he covers with the class, prior to all tests. It is virtually impossible to not do well. He does not assign papers as he doesn't feel that students in Econ 305 yet know enough about econ.
I highly recommend this instructor to all students who are not economics majors.

If you are taking Econ 305 as a GE or as a prerequisite, here's some advice on this teacher....pay close attention!! He's a very funny, personable man, but as a teacher he can be hard to follow. He's all over the place with his lectures. Be sure to read the book (stuff from the chapters that aren't in the lecture CAN show up in tests). The tests are not easy at all, so make sure you know and are comfortable with the material. I am not very good at Economics and therefore I am struggling with this class. It's not too bad if you show up and take notes. And feel free to talk to him if you need to. He's very friendly. But be careful if you aren't familiar with macro or micro economics like I am! It might be difficult to follow him!
