Matthews' class is probably most appropriate for those who are seriously considering law school, or for those who are truely committed to learning about criminal procedure. This professor is also an attorney and full time prosecutor, so she provides a lot of insight into how criminal procedure is put into practice. She has very high standards which she expects her students to meet. You can meet those standards, but it requires an exceptional effort. Plan to spend 8-10 hours a week reading and briefing cases. You will need to do this consistently in order to do well on the essay exams - where you will be required to display your knowledge of case law. If you do the work, you will come out of this class with a pretty impressive understanding of criminal procedure. The rewards are worth the effort. I learned more in this class than in any other.
P.S. - The 14 hours of field study is what you get the 4th unit of credit for.
