Professor McGee is one of those professors that truly cares about his students, and his love of the subject comes across brilliantly in his lectures and class discussions. I am a history major but, for the first time since I began college, seriously gave thought to changing my major to Geography after taking his 551 American Regional Cultures class. His is incredibly inspiring and pationate about the subject of geography. Wonderful man! A college education is not complete without a class with Professor Chris McGee.
Thank you Professor McGee!

I think Professot McGee is a great teacher. His course outline was very organized and simple to follow. His lectures were according to the material being taught and were relevant and appropriate to the section in the course the class was on. What I liked most about his course is that he didn't use a textbook. Instead, he had us read non-fictional books that had to do with Human Geography...dealing with such issues as Globalization and the mystic Turkey and its Ottoman Empire. I think his teaching methods and the layout of his course was effective and appropriate to the course. I'd recommend other students who would like to take GEOG 102 to take McGee.

This class would be interesting but McGee's voice kills it. He is so monotonous that sometimes he is saying interesting stuff but you can't tell by the way he speaks. He gives a lot of work and grades hard. He is very nice and always available in his office. He is flexible and understandingif you have any problems. Take my advice take this class cr/ncr only one person would miraculously get an A on his essays and no one on his tests. You have to go to class too because he tests on lecture material as well.

o god dont waste your time.... please take my word for it. The name Mr. Mcgee explains it all. hes so boring. it takes all of my strength to get out of bed and drag my fat ass to this class; knowing that im going to fall asleep 5 minutes after he turns off the lights to lecture about maps and what not. the homework sucks as well as the 4 books that are required readings. he grades incredibly difficult and makes it a point to correct any and every one of your spelling errors. have fun!

I was a little intimidated during the first 2 weeks of the semester. Chris (as he likes to be called) assigns readings and essays each week. This class is quite difficult, but if you focus, do all the readings, and put a lot of thought into the essays, you should do fine. Chris' assignments forced me to think critically, which really helped me in the end. The lectures, I have to admit, can get long and boring--I phased out a couple of times. However, Chris did talk about a lot of interesting and thought-provoking topics. I would suggest sitting in front, because it's much harder to concentrate when you're all the way in the back of the classroom.
As for the exams, we took a midterm and a final. Chris gives essay exams, but don't let this scare you off. He gave us a review sheet, and he went over them in class. Basically, he gave us the answers. We simply needed to elaborate and include our thoughts. This is why it's very important to take lots of notes and to show up to class.
The best thing about Chris is that he is approachable. If you have questions or concerns, he always makes himself available.
Geog 455 is an upper division class, and I wouldn't advise lower classmen to take it, nor would I suggest taking this class if you have a fully loaded schedule.

Hands down the best speaker/lecturer I have ever had in any class, in any University. He seems to know everything, and presents information in a clear, straightforward manner. I also had him for Geog of U.S. and Canada. His tests are tough, especially in the Human Environment class, but the material is interesting enough to make you want to learn it. His classes are the best in the department, a true scholar

His lectures are straightforward and informative, and so full of juicy tidbits that even learning history were interesting. Beginning with Native Americans, then Blacks, Ethnic Europeans, Latinos, and Asians, he uses maps, charts, and articles to trace each group's history and settlements in America. He is so knowledgeable that he paints each people's lives clearly and understandably, making everything tie together in the end of the semester. Note-taking is very easy, as he speaks clearly and makes it known when he is discussing an important point. He reviews everything on the three tests beforehand, so there are no surprises. He always has a dour expression on his face, and doesn't smile much. But he welcomes participation and lots of questions/answers, and his character shone through as the semester progressed. I enjoyed his class, and would thoroughly recommend him as a lecturer.
