Mary is an excellent professor, mentor, and role model. She teaches the fundamental basics while encouraging critical thinking and independence. She is always available and open to assit not only with learning skills but with progressing in the nursing program and developing as a future nurse. She is very helpful and offers great advice for just about anything. If you have her for skills lab, you will surely learn correct sterile technique and will appreciate her efficiency and emphasis on patient safety, comfort, and privacy. The pace of the lab is good as she does demonstrations and is present when you practice the skills. I feel very fortunate to have had her as a professor my first semester, but even more so now as a highly respected mentor.

Myself, along with my fellow peers, have a high amount of respect for Mary, not only as a professor but also a mentor. She conducts her class in a professional manner, and does an incredible job of setting a student up for success as a nurse. She encourages independence, critical thinking, and autonomy, all vital characteristics in molding the nurse you would want to care for your loved ones. This class is 90% hands on, so you must be proactive in utilizing skills time outside of class and not being afraid to ask for help. She is someone you can go to anytime, for anything!
