We had two books, one on computers and the other on Excel. Well, that is how the curriculum of the class was divided. So be prepare to spend have of the time learning about computers and the other about Excel. I thought that the name of the class matched perfectly to how the professor taught the class. Intro to BICS was basically how she taught. She went over computer parts, how to buy a computer, how to surf the net, etc. The homework went from basic(email her you email address) to doing spreadsheets learned from Excel. Making your own homepage will be part of your final and a comprehensive final too. Honestly speaking, this class may be boring to those who know some computers because she starts the class with basics. For this class be prepared to have the reading material read and some time at the lab going over Excel.

Professor Ogborn is an instructor who doesn't have a lot of patience for students who do not comprehend the work such as an Internet course or Excel software. She instructs at a pace that when it comes to a student's level of learning throughout the course, "If you're hot, you're hot, If you're not, you're not!" also the experience with her is that if it appears that you have some knowledge of the course, depending of her personal dislike of you, she strategically quizzes you in a way so that she can accomplish in making you get a low grade. She runs the class like a Civil Service Exam course in which you have to think fast. No one in their right mind can grasp the ability to do worksheets in Excel with very minimum or low experience. I find her not a suitable instructor, In fact, just because a person is knowledgeable in a subject, doesn't mean they know how to teach. She's not at all concerned about whether the students learn, but rather, did you read the book? and can you pass the quiz? Otherwise, she could care less if you learn and what's more whether you're failing the class. She waits until about three weeks before the end of the semester to tell students that certain of us are failing and should drop the class.

She has some personal biases against students. I can't necessarily say that it's racial, but just that she has some reservation against a students and she grade and teaches accordingly.
