Although Orenberg knows his materials, he lacks the ability to teach his students. I understand this is a fast paced upper division course, but he goes through his powerpoint like picture slideshows without thoroughly explaining in depth about the topic. I can understand why so many students do not attend his lecture. First, it's a waste of time sitting through a lecture w/out understanding the professor. Second of all, you'll learn a lot better just by reading the book. He does not make chemisty fun nor interesting whereas he seems to make the class difficult for anyone to pass. More than half the class did not score 50% or higher in the class shows that this professor really needs to be evaluate about his teaching skills. I'm sure he knows what he's talking about, but everyone else doesn't. If you are taking C320, AVOID Orenberg. When you get to your upper divisions in your major, you want to learn, not sit through a class w/a terrible professor.
