Gary Otake

Professpr Otake is a great professor for AAS 200. As you all know, history can be very boring and broad but Professor Otake makes it fun and interesting. He lays the lecture out very organized and easy to understand. His exam are multiple choice, true and false and fill in the blank. The test are pretty clear if you read the book and study the lecture. The test were mostly base on lectures and some class participation questions. If you want to have a better and clear understanding of Asian History, you should definitely take this class. Professor Otake is very friendly and he has a very good knowledge of this subject. You will learn a great deal in this class. Taking this class is fun and it will not put you to sleep.

i think if you're looking for a GE history class to take, i think otake is the best teacher. He is such a good teacher, not to mention that he's easy. the lectures may be sometimes boring, but he writes everything on the board for you. he's so nice that he lets everybody add into his class the first day. he knows what he's doing and his grading system is fair. if you just try a little in his class, he will not fail you. Plus, his quizes and exams are easy. you should have no problem passing it. if you want to learn something about the asian culture, you definately should take this teacher.

Gary is great. I took his class when he first started teaching here. He's originally from City College. Anyways, there are hecka ways for you to rack up points and leave the class with an "A". He offers 35 extra points for those students who can volunteer their time out of school an hour a week for a couple of weeks. If you do this, you don't even have to take the final! I heard the extra activity is a rewarding experience. I never did it cause I didn't have time, but that didn't matter cause I still passed. His exams are easy and you don't need to buy any expensive textbook, just a reader for $10. His teaching style is funny cause he makes mistakes himself and he just laughs it off. If you like to enter in discussions, then this is the class for you. Even for those of you who don't like to talk. His exams is open book and it's just fill-in-the-blanks and T/F questions. There's no major projects or anything! Enjoy this class cause I sure did.
