His speaking abilities are horrible enough to the point of barely understanding him and what he is trying to teach you. His tests also give problems that are not ones you've worked out before. I actually feel cheated by his class and would prefer him to retire.

he knows his stuff but he is sometimes forgetful. i had a tumultuous semester and ended up missing a test he offered to let me make it up and a couple of assignments In his office he told me that if i did good on the final that will be my grade. i aced the final and he tried to freakin give me a D, saying that i has missing assignments and missedd a test. When i reminded him about my grade on the final, he all of sudden remembered me!

Professor Ovchinnikov is the one of the best teachers I've had. His lectures are concise and to the point, he won't teach you stuff that you don't need to know, but he will stress the important stuff. His writing is clear, you'll never wonder what he wrote. His exams are fair, he tests you on the things he taught only and only important things, not like other professors. Best of all if you screw up on one of the tests you can talk to him and he will do everything possible in a fair way to get you back on the track.

this class was ok. it was really easy..but extremely boring. i went to class for about the first 2 weeks, and then i started skipping everyday. i found it easier to do the homework on my own, and i just went to class to turn in my homework. the midterms were easy.

This professor is totally awesome! He speaks about 5 languages, has written books in 3 languages, and teaches math with incredible clarity. His explanations regarding solving the problems are clear and concise. I can't praise this professor enough!!! (Who would ever have thought that I would look forward to learning more about calculus every day???)
His class is very structured and he makes sure you understand each step in the problem solving process. This professor is very patient, encourages your questions, and never makes you feel stupid when you ask dumb questions. Prior to an exam, he gives you a long list of problems to review so that you are able to identify the areas that you might be having trouble with. He is very willing to help you during his office hours. His exams are usually a few of the more complex problems from the sections you have beeen studying. If you have studied the review problems and kept up with your weekly homework assignments, you will do well. I highly recommend this professor and his teaching style.

this professor is great! he's extremely fair when it comes to grading. he's an excellent lecturer and although he has a slight accent it in no way affects your understanding. he does all he can to make you grasp concepts by using mathematica to show the graphs that he is talking about. there are 10 homework problems assigned on thursday and tuesday. there are two midterms and a final. his tests consists of mulitple rules you have learned but are extremely fair. for example he will give you a problem for which you have to find the limit and you will have to use the quotient rule first and then apply chain rule and then work it out. all his exams are open note and open book. you can use anything and as much as you like. i would recommend him to anyone taking upper level mathematics.

He is very reasonable and fair. He never gives surprises and all exams are open book/notes. He assigns 10 problems per week for homework, which is enough to get a basic idea of the concepts, but if you want to do well on the exams extra practice on your own is recomended. his lectures are not bad and he knows what he is talking about, but he is a little absent minded at times. he follows the syllabus pretty closely. His tests have only a few problems and each one is worth a lot, but he gives partial credit for trying. overal he is easy to follow and the workload is not so big.

I reccomend this teacher if you have a basic understanding of trigonometry and precalculus, because he spends very little time reviewing any of it. He has an accent which isn't hard to understand, but at times I couldn't hear him. The test are open book and open notes, but they have about 5 questions that are worth from 10 to 20 points each. You miss one question and it messes up your grade. There are only three tests, and your grade also relies on homework that you turn in once a week. I dont have anything against him, he seems like a nice guy, but the class is long and boring. Not that calculus is a facinating subject anyways. Not a bad choice, a fair grader, and there is always tutouring if you dont like how he teaches.

I had Mr.Ovchinnikov in both calc 1 and 2. He is easy to follow and is fair in his grading. He gives three exams, including the final and they are open book and notes. I had fun in his class and would recomend him to anyone taking higher level math. Too bad for me, he isn't teaching calc3 this comming semester, but for anyone who finds him in the schedulle-go for him.
