I think this class is very difficult to teach because it is a "how to write" class. Thus, there is more "talking about it" than numbers (and engineers like numbers). ENGR 800 is an evening 3-hour class, so you may think it is easy to get bored and loose concentration. However, Dr. Owen managed to keep it interesting and active in a brilliant way. Discussions were amusing and involving. I learned a lot from this class, and I think it will turn out very usefull when I have to write my thesis.

Dr. Owen is the best professor I have ever had. Even tough he is a very busy man, he is always available to students during and after office hours. His way of teaching is excellent; even when the textbook turns out to be lousy, he finds the way to deliver the subject clearly.

Dr. Owen is the best Engineering instructor I ever had. He has a grate way of making lectures interesting and easy to follow. I strongly believe that I can learn whatever he is teaching. He is always available if you need extra help. Tests and assignments are right on target and that is why many students say once you have Dr. Owen you will feel that you are at a higher level school.

Although the class I took with this instructor was not very beneficial to me, his method of presenting the information was very good. Professor Owen has genuine concern for students and ademently tries to help each student perform to his or her best. Professor Owen is actively involved with the ASCE Student Chapter and is always available to take time and assist any one who needs help. Hs teaching skills are superb, and his knowledge of the engineering profession is astounding. He is most definitely an asset to the School of Engineering.

Instructor has a belief that all students can learn. The only thing that is different between students is the type of technique that the student learns by. And the fact that to have every student reach the same level a different technique must be adapted to each student. This instructor relies heavily on feed back from quizzes and exams to find the retention and comprehension level of each student and changes his lesson plan accordingly for each class.
