Excellent teacher!!!

Brad is definietly an awesome and cool teacher. His lectures are very informative, tentative, and interesting as well. Despite 3 midterms and a final, it's easy to ace all of them if one attends class regularly, takes good notes, and listens well in class. It's impossible to bore yourself in his class. He comes to class prepared and offers extra hours outside of class to help his students. He made biology fun and inspired me to choose biology as my major.

Very charismatic teacher

I agree with everything positive said in all the reviews. Mr. Paschal is definetly a teacher interested in the teaching as well as learning process. He truly cares about his students learning and comprehending the given information. The only bad thing about having him as a teacher is having to go on to other classes with teachers that don't have half the energy nor care a quarter as much as he does about teaching.

Great Teacher!!!!!

Brad is a great biology teacher because he makes everything interesting (at least to me). His human biology class consists of three exams and a final, but the lowest grade on the three exams will be drop (so you could screw up once on the exams or miss an exam once). Attendance is a must in his class because the exams and final are based mostly on lecture notes. What I find really helpful is his study guide because he based his exams on the study guide so as long as you know the stuff on the study guide you will do fine in his class. If you have questions or problems, he is alway there to help, all you need to do is ask and he encourages those who are having problems to get a tutor. He also gives out study hours before the exam. These are just a couple of things I wanted to mention about this teacher and you can read the other reviews and learn more about him.

I learned alot about human biology from Brad. He is a very interesting teacher -- he's young enough still not to be jaded and bitter, and you can tell he really wants his students to "get" biology. I found the class not all that hard, as there is no homework or essays due. But regular attendence is crucial, so if you're prone to be absent, be warned. His tests aren't that hard, mostly mulitple choice and fill-in-the-blank. If you study and pay attention you'll do fine. He encourages discussion and questions in class. He'll also admit when he doesn't know an answer, as opposed to acting pompous and faking it. He's also pretty easy to talk to if you need help, and he's more than willing to work with students. All around, a really knowledgable professor who cares about his students.

Brad is the BEST instructor I have ever encountered in SFSU. In fact, I enjoyed his intro biology class so much that I decided to declare my major in biology. Although I was very fortunate to receive an A- in his class, I worked hard for the grade. The material taught was not very difficult, but it was challenging to get an A. One needs to read, attend class all the time (because the majority of the test questions are based his lecture notes), and cram like hell before the exams in order to receive a good grade. This class intellectually challenges the student like ALL academic classes at a four-year university should. Brad is very thourough with his lectures, he makes the material interesting and fun with analogies and real-life examples, and he is always on time and prepared to teach. Brad devotes several office hours every week for study groups to help students who have any questions or need additional help. He even puts in more office hours for study groups prior to the tests. What more dedication can one ask for in an instuctor? I would recommend this class to anyone who is dedicated to pursuing a higher (more intellegent) education, someone who has a desire to learn and work, and someone who wants a teacher who actually enjoys teaching. However, if you don't care to learn and thing, or just want to pass with a C to get through with the biological science GE requirement, perhaps you would have better luck with another (easier) teacher.

I just checked my grade for this class earlier and I found out that I got a "B," which isn't bad, but considering that I worked and studied my butt off, a "B" is actually quite disappointing. I admit, Brad is good teacher and I can't complain, but I have to agree with the first review: tough class! I do not regret taking Biology 100 with Brad; I just wished I had known in the beginning of the semester what was in store. Let me tell you: There were approximately 160 (roughly)people in the class and of the 160 people, about 14 people got A's (mostly A-'s). So yes, the class is tough and if you are considering taking Biology 100 with Brad, be sure you're ready to work and study hard! 3 midterms and a final, but A WHOLE LOT of notes in between. I am giving Brad an A- because despite all my hard work and studying only to receive a "B" for his class, I truly enjoyed the class and feel that Brad is a good instructor who knows what he's talking about. He is very organized and well-prepared, which are both excellent qualities in an instructor and no matter how much notes we had to take or how hard the class was to me, I found the material taught very interesting and most importantly, I actually learned a lot from the class.

Although he's really nice and compassionate towards his students, not to mention really helpful and cute, his class is a tough one. He teaches this Biology class that's supposedly for "non-majors" as if it's a Biology class for Bio majors. Unlike other Biology 100 classes that are much easier and have fewer exams (or so I heard from others), this class is pretty tough with 3 midterms and a final. Each midterm consists of 50 questions and the final consists of 75 questions. A couple of good things about this class are: 1)Brad. He makes Bio. somewhat interesting 2)no papers to write & no homework whatsoever That's about all I can think of. Bottomline: if you like tough instructors and if you're ready for lots of Biology, I would recommend him. But if you like easy instructors and is the type that prefers as little info. as possible, I probably wouldn't recommend him because he doesn't fall into that category and I'm pretty sure you could find a Bio 101 instructor at State that does fall into that category.
