She was a kewl lady. Her accents sometimes a little hard to understand but it was cute and she got across to everyone fine. We were supposed to read about 5 different books (but I think I only read one..) and we would discuss them in class sometimes. We would watch some homemade films by students from San Francisco which was kewl but sometimes never saw the endings because we ran out of time. We had one midterm, one group project and 2 papers to write. Plus a journal we had to complete but it was only 1 page written out with your response to a question she asked you. Overall I had a lot of fun in the class. Except there was a lot of reading so you gotta watch out for that..

This class was so pointless... yet it's so easy. You must come to class and stay, but you could fall daydream easily everyday and still get a good grade. She has no tests and no homework. Just a couple journals due at midterms and finals and 2 papers. We have a couple presentations to do but I don't even think she graded us on them. She didn't know any of the students' names in the class. She does give good topics to talk about to write for papers but you don't even have to listen to still do okay. She's a very sweet person too. This class is one to take.

Professor Pelaud is the cutest person in the world! As for being a teacher, she isnt the best but shes pretty alright. She tries hard to involve her students; if you participate in her lectures, she will love you. Her class consists of in class presentations (pretty short- answering some questions about the books you read in class, 2 papers, a journal, and a group presentation. SHe is a pretty easy and fair grader. The selection of books is really interesting and i actually read each and everyone of them. I suggest taking her if you want an interesting but sometimes boring class.

Prof. Pelaud is a good teacher. She really tries to have the class interested and involved in class discussions. The books she assign are good. During class time, pay attention because she gives out good ideas for your paper. She really knows about her subject. Her accent is a bit rough, but you can still understand her if you try.

This is the first Asian American teacher that I have to complain about. The only thing that I have to complain is that her grading is completely unfair and it makes people feel sick about it. Her speaking skill is even worse... She told the class that you can have 10% from class attendant and 10% or 20% for extra credit. That mean with an average of C (70%) in class you can still get an A. But it was completely wrong. She just grades you on her feeling to you. That's it. Beside that, I could hardly understand what she tried to say in class. Waste of my time

Okay, it might make you think, but for the most part, if you do not like to think and participate in class discussion, her class is not for you. Instead, it will be boring and seemingly a waste of your time. -> She has some trouble with the accent but if you're into accents, go for it. -> She is not commanding of any attention and oftentimes very accomidating too, though she does not tolerate talking (other than within the realm of the discussion). -> Her quizes are just questions to see if you have kept up with the reading, nothing more. -> There is one analytical paper (8-10pgs) due at end of semester, another (4-6pgs) due at time of your presentation, three responses to the major readings (1-2pgs each) due at end of semester, and some volunteer events that you can write about for extra credit (about 1pg). -> One presentation - you sign up for this in the beginning of the semester in which you chose one of four readings in which to do your presentation on. Be aware that your 4-6pg paper is due along with your presentation. Just summarize your paper for the presentation and you will be fine. -> There are also some events in which you can write responses for and receive extra credit. -> Overall, this class is great for those who like to read and discuss, criticize, analyze, or respond to what they have read. -> If you are good with analytical essays, you will do well in this class.

Yeah it was her first year but I give her a lot of credit. First day of class she said our class would be like a book club. And it was. No midterms, just a lot of discussion. The books were ok, with the exception of a couple, but we made sure she knew that but it was all a part of being in a "book club." There are some bad books, and some good books. She asked for suggestions and we gave it to her. She will definitely listen and help you understand the books. Yes she is soft spoken but there is more to her good side: she has no ego, she conducts her material well, and you don't get a bad impression of her at all. I believe that her future classes will go well, she has what it takes. She knows her literature, so with more experience in teaching students, I see things only going for the better. However if you don't like to read books, you will get bored. In order to really pass and attend class everyday (you get graded for this), you must have tolerance for reading novels. Look out for these books, though, they were the favorites: Catfish&Mandala, America Is Where the Heart Is, and Bone. Taking the class and doing good will definitely add a nice touch to your GPA.

At first I really thought her class was useless, but its her first year. Although the class was vague, the lectures are too general, and her ability to facilitate is nonexistent. She speaks really low and is very unorganized. Give her throat drops because when she coughs, its annoying. Although she has rarely any presence of authority, she tries her hardest to become a better teacher and always asks suggestions. SHe is very nice and understanding and the literature is excellent. Take this class if you wanna easy one, but be nice to her because she's a rookie and trying her best.
