I toatlly agree with the first reviewer. I feel that this teacher was terrible. Her speaking skills were shot and she was always all over the place. How can you learn and take in information when it's not being presented correctly? I wouldn't recommend this teacher under any circumstances. But it looks like I don't even have to bother telling people to watch out for her because she isn't teaching this semester.

I think the past reviewer needs to get a grip on reality. First off the second map test was extremly easy, and she did tell us exactly where everything was, you just had to look at your note or at past handouts. Second;y, her gradly was very lax, I wrote most of my essays in a few hours and got A on all but 1. She would always return emails and answer all questions regrading the subject, you just had to ask. Besides all she wanted was a good explanation of your idea, and analysis of the readings. Length and justification are irrelavant. While there were times she did not know the answers to some students questions, I felt it was honorable to say she didn't know instead of BSing an answer. Also she did explain at the beginning of the class that world history was not her major, and that this was the first time she had taught this class. Therefore I thought her lectures were well researched and she gave both sides of the arguements. I have taken many history classes at this school and at my last, and hers was good, not great, but definitly worth taking. My only quam was her essay questions were hard to answer because they focused on small themes rather than picking larger and more important aspects of the story. For example in Gilglamesh, she wanted us to write about woman roles in the story.

this has got to be the worst experience i have ever had with a history class! i have always loved the subject, but now i totally hate it! if you want to have a traumatizing history experience take history with erica peters. this teacher was terrible! the first day of class she read directly from her notecards like someone who was giving a speech for the first time. her lectures improved slightly as time progressed, but not very much. she kept changing the dates around, and most of the time it sounded as if she didn't know what she was talking about. there were four essays, two map tests, two hour exams, and a final. her grading was uncalled for. it's almost as if she doesnt want anyone to ever get an "A." i take that back...she makes every possible excuse not to give someone an a. take for instance the map tests:the class as a whole did very well on the first map test and she didn't like that very much. for the second map test she gave us a list of like 30 terms and we had to go hunt for them on our own. if that wasn't bad enough she put excess dots in places that she hadn't put on the study sheet to throw people off. she herself said that she had to make the second test harder because people did so well on the first. oh yeah, and let's not forget the incidents where she takes off points for pathetic little things like not putting river or mountain next to an identity. there's just no way to please her. her essay grading was even worse. it didn't matter if you proved your thesis and wrote a good paper because there was always something missing no matter what. she was so demanding of us, but yet she herself was an incompotent lecturer.
