Shawn Poon

Shawn is way nice! He is very willing to accommodate his students and help as much as he can. i would totally recommend him as a teacher. the only negitive thing i have to say about him is he gets a little off topic in class and it makes it hard to pay attention. GREAT CLASS OVERALL and VERY LITTLE WORK!

I had a misleading first impression of Prof. Poon, or as he prefers us to call him, Shawn. I thought his class was boring and draggy. It picked up momentum rapidly though. I soon found myself enjoying his lectures and looking forward to his classes. He has a wonderful personality and is tremendously friendly. He grades leniently and is incredibly intelligent. What can you say about someone who has a triple major from Berkeley and 2 Masters from Stanford?!?! The best way to get through the required Critical Thinking is TAKE HIS CLASS!

Class consisted of: * 3-4 homework assignments * 2 midterms * 1 final paper (3-4 pages)

The material was somewhat difficult, but Shawn did an excellent job of presenting things as clearly as possible. He's a natural-born professor. His lectures are funny as hell but he has a tendency to wander off-topic sometimes (mostly about TV, movies and the 1980s). It didn't bother me, but some of the people who were not "getting it" became frustrated at how he sometimes jumps around. Show up, pay attention, and you should do well. He's available during office hours and if you are having trouble, he will go out of his way to make sure you understand. He's really a great professor, and a great looking guy... I mean, a great guy. heh. Other perks: Brings cookies on Friday.

His class is the easiest class I've ever taken. 1. only 3 homework assignments! 2. take-home MID-TERM for a WEEK! 3. extra credit quiz & homework! 4. Final is an essay! 5. Attendance is NEVER taken!

Want an easy A, i say you TAKE THIS CLASS! although his lectures can be a bit boring sometimes. Hey,.. he's got a great sense of humor though!
